from jazzmatazz: Miles Davis - Miles Electric - A Different Kind Of Blue - DVD (Eagle Eye Media) Nov 16 — Miles at the Isle of Wight Festival in the summer of 1970 with Gary Bartz on soprano sax, Chick Corea on electric piano, Keith Jarrett on organ, Dave Holland on electric bass, Jack DeJohnette on drums and Airto Moreira on percussion; also includes interviews by former band members and other musicians; 78 minutes CD Universe link According to the Miles Davis biography by Ian Carr, the Miles appearance on that festival lasted only half an hour. Will the rest of the 78 minutes be interviews?

I have this film on a pirate italian VHS tape and on a DVD: Jazz Masters Vintage Collection 1958/1961 The sound is fine on both. This looks like a production problem on your DVD (the release, not just our copy). Does the DVD only contain this film? That's very short (30 minutes or so)!

Is it possible to have two Paypal accounts, one for receiving credit card payments, and the other for receiving payments from Paypal account to Paypal account?

My *very* limited experience with JRVGs is that they are a hit and miss. Unlike the US/Euro RVGs which are very consistent in quality (far from perfect, but you generally know what you will get). I bought 3 of them: - Pete LaRoca "Basra" has great sound. Highly recommended, but you may wait for the cheaper US RVG that is scheduled for early next year. - Jackie McLean "A fickle sonance" sounds as crappy as the US RVG ("AM radio" sound). The TOCJ is very good. - Freddie Redd "The Connection": same issue. Seems that the japanese Rudy doesn't like Jackie McLean. Here again, the older TOCJ and Connoisseur CD versions are much better. I have also briefly listened to some other JRVGs (Horace Silver, Grant Green, I don't remember the titles) at a CD store in Munich, with low end headphones. But the equipment was good enough for me to notice that some of those CDs had very strange remastering too. This led me to stay away from buying more JRVGs. Changing absolute polarity cannot make a crappy CD sound good. The difference is very subtle at best.

I don't know about bank accounts, but you can use $ credits that are on your Paypal account. If the amount to pay exceeds the credit on your account, the rest will be taken off your credit card.

It's a version of the forum adapted for mobile devices. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/W/WAP.html I know one forum which offers a version for mobiles: http://www.1src.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=73 (full version) http://www.1src.com/mobile/forumdisplay.php?f=73 (mobile version) I'm able to browse Organissimo on my Palm, but it needs a lot of scrolling. However I don't think many people read the board on PDAs (I don't)

Works fine in Opera, but I chose the player manually because the auto-detection took too long.

Are you bored by every jazz recording or is your collection mostly in the same style? I get bored easily by listening to hardbop or mainstream jazz, so I enjoy it at a small dosis and try to listen to as many styles as possible, jumping from Anthony Braxton to Pat Metheny and Duke Ellington in one evening, one album at a time. I also listen to classical msuic a lot. If I had to choose to take my jazz or my classical music collection to a desert island, I would choose the latter, because there is much more to discover at repeated listening.

Hello Swinger, The K2s I have compared to the regular OJCs or german ZYX OJC20s are: - Eric Dolphy - Outward bound: much better than the Dolphy prestige box, where this sessions sounds thin and steely - Eric Dolphy - Far Cry & Five Spot Vol.1: more dynamic, fuller and tighter than the box set remastering, but not a spectacular improvement - Kenny Burrell & John Coltrane: just a minor difference between the OJC20 and the K2, not worth upgrading. - Art Pepper & Eleven - Modern Jazz Classics: the K2 sound is more natural and coherent than the ZYX. But the SACD is again an improvement (warmer and better instrument separation) - Red Garland - Groovy: The ZYX sounds atrocious, no treble, as if the tapes (multi-generation copies?) were completely worn out. The K2 is 1000% better ... to be continued later ...

The Thelonious Monk with John Coltrane K2 sounds very good. I was disappointed with the new SACD and kept the K2 as my "definitive" version.

The solution is the selfdestructing CD, or the downloadable album that has to be activated (paid) for every listen. This will get us rid of the second hand market ... and the CD collecting addiction

I'm impatiently awaiting the new Organissimo album, available on hybrid SACD ....

Decomposing body to be shown on TV

Why don't they take one of the murder victims who die every day in police and crime series? -
To support my favourite artist, I go to second hand stores, buy all their CDs I can find and then destroy them Seriously, I see no moral issues at all with the second hand market for CDs. It is a minor economic problem compared to CD-R copying or internet downloads. Ideally, I would like to buy all my CDs from the artists themselves to ensure that they get a bigger part of the profit share. But then, how will I support my favourite small jazz record store?

You're right, Swinger. The german OJC releases of these Miles albums are quite good. As I told you in my reply to your PM on AAJ, don't expect too much (acoustically) from the "Incredible jazz guitar" CD, because the tapes are in bad shape and none of the reissues sounds very good.

CD Universe is the easily the best. - lowest prices, especially on preorders - low shipping rates (choose regular airmail and "ship together" option) - fast shipping (shipping takes 1-2 weeks to Europe) - very compact packages which mostly go unnoticed by the customs Order 4-5 CDs at a time ($50-60 including shipping) - possibility to cancel or reorganize orders (like on Amazon) Jazzmatazz has direct links to CD Universe, this makes shopping for new releases very easy (and your orders will support Jazzmatazz.

I guess that the sessions that contain a tracklist with the exact indication of duration must exist on tape.
