  1. There's this: "... includes never-before-seen versions of "Foxey Lady," "Message To Love," "Hey Joe," "Spanish Castle Magic," and "Lover Man ..." The fact that they are totally re-editing would be enough for me at this point.
  2. Definitely a great CTI album. "Red Clay" should be in your collection, too.
  3. "... to restore all of the existing film footage from Hendrix's legendary Woodstock performance. This new edition was entirely re-edited by Jere Huggins, one of the original editors of the 1970 Academy Award winning Woodstock documentary. Huggins worked extensively with Experience Hendrix's Janie Hendrix and John McDermott, as well as noted Warner Bros. film restoration specialist Bill Rush to incorporate a variety of previously unseen camera angles and coverage."
  4. I think I'll white-out the number on mine and write in "Reviewer Copy".
  5. "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore, Vol. 2 - The Helsinki Concert" has some pretty smokin' stuff on it. It's all one show with the George Duke/Napolean Murphy Brock band - which was one of his most entertaining and talented lineups (see "Roxy & Elsewhere")
  6. 2 1/2 hours to go and Larry Young is up to $460.00!! Mosaic Box Complete Blue Note Recordings of Larry Young
  7. I have that set. It is just guitar solos, so if you are looking for something more, it might not be for you.
  8. Sure, Lon. I knew you would be interested. FWIW, Jimi's Woodstock appearance has never been one of my favorites, but being able to see a different edit job on the film may change my mind. The original film was so frustrating, with all the super-closeups and endless shots of the emptying fairgrounds, that it was hard to enjoy the performance. So now that they have gone back to the orignal film and re-edited everything it should give us a whole new take on it.
  9. This looks like it's well worth picking up! EXPERIENCE HENDRIX TO RELEASE JIMI HENDRIX: LIVE AT WOODSTOCK [THE DELUXE EDITION] ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2005 SOURCE: Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. DATE: July 14, 2005 SEATTLE, WA (July 14, 2005) - Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. in association with Universal Music Enterprises is pleased to announce the release of Jimi Hendrix: Live At Woodstock [The Deluxe Edition] on September 13, 2005. This special two-disc DVD presentation of Jimi Hendrix: Live At Woodstock stands as the definitive record of one of Jimi's most celebrated performances. This all-new deluxe set features all of the existing film footage from Jimi's unforgettable August 1969 Woodstock concert newly re-edited and presented uninterrupted and in its original performance sequence. Live At Woodstock includes never-before-seen versions of "Foxey Lady," "Message To Love," "Hey Joe," "Spanish Castle Magic," and "Lover Man," and an all-new 5.1 and 2.0 stereo soundtrack mixed by Eddie Kramer, Jimi's original studio engineer. Where 1994’s original VHS [and subsequent DVD] release of Hendrix’s Woodstock performance ran for only 57 minutes, Experience Hendrix has teamed with Warner Bros. to restore all of the existing film footage from Hendrix's legendary Woodstock performance. This new edition was entirely re-edited by Jere Huggins, one of the original editors of the 1970 Academy Award winning Woodstock documentary. Huggins worked extensively with Experience Hendrix's Janie Hendrix and John McDermott, as well as noted Warner Bros. film restoration specialist Bill Rush to incorporate a variety of previously unseen camera angles and coverage. Rush has been involved in the careful, critically acclaimed restoration of many classic films, including Public Enemy, Casablanca, and Out Of The Past. The result is a frame by frame digital restoration that presents Hendrix in vibrant color and detail. In addition to the full-length feature Live At Woodstock, this deluxe two DVD collection features a multitude of special bonus features including: THE ROAD TO WOODSTOCK A new documentary featuring Hendrix performance footage and new interviews with Woodstock promoter Michael Lang, and Hendrix band members Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox, Larry Lee, and Juma Sultan among others. JIMI HENDRIX: LIVE AT WOODSTOCK: A SECOND LOOK In addition to the newly re-edited color footage featured on DVD one, A Second Look offers a totally unique perspective of Jimi's Woodstock performance that has never before been shared. A Second Look combines never before seen black and white video footage of Jimi’s legendary Woodstock performance intercut with alternate camera angles filmed in color. A Second Look features uninterrupted footage of every performance featured on DVD One in its original performance sequence. In addition, A Second Look presents never before seen video footage of “Hear My Train A Comin’”--a performance missed by the film crew and presented here for the very first time. JIMI HENDRIX PRESS CONFERENCE: Filmed at Frank’s Restaurant, Harlem on September 3, 1969 two weeks after Woodstock. At a press conference called to announce his upcoming benefit performance on behalf of the United Block Association, a Harlem based youth organiziation, Jimi spoke about the festival and his memorable rendition of “Star Spangled Banner”. NASHVILLE ROOTS Band members Billy Cox and Larry Lee recall their friendship with Jimi Hendrix and their shared journey from the fabled R&B 'chitlin circuit' to the greatest rock festival ever conceived. RECORDING WOODSTOCK: Engineer Eddie Kramer details the recording of the entire epic festival. RARE ARTIFACTS & MEMORABILIA: Collection includes original Woodstock poster, festival tickets, and Hendrix's own handwritten set list draft, and poem about the festival, "500,000 Halos." Jimi Hendrix: Live At Woodstock [The Deluxe Edition] is scheduled for release on September 13, 2005 by Experience Hendrix/UMe at a suggested retail price of $19.98. Pre-orders for this title are now being accepted by Authentic Hendrix online at www.authentichendrix.com or by calling toll-free 1-888-EXP-JIMI (or outside North America at +1-206-988-6866) and requesting item #622-002-016.
  10. Good start here. I would also add "One Size Fits All" (similar style to "Roxy") and "Waka/Jawaka" (similar, mostly-instrumental, jazzy style to "Grand Wazoo"). "Hot Rats" is generally considered one of Frank's masterpieces, so you really can't go wrong with that one, either.
  11. YES! YES! YES! I'd love to be able to see that show again. Barth Gimble! Jerry Hubbard! Happy Kyne! I believe it was on TV Land a while back? ← I'll second THAT!! (or is it "third"?) Yes, it was on TV Land for a while. I own: The Office Special The Ben Stiller Show On Netflix, I've watched or have lined up: Larry Sanders (why only season #1?) Mr. Show (hilarious "next generation" Ben Stiller Show w/Bob Odenkirk & David Cross) SCTV (but it didn't seem to be very good episodes) Danger Man (A/K/A "Secret Agent" w/Patrick McGoohan)
  12. These new prints are digital? Maybe that's why they are the same price as what I got last year. I'm sure that is a darkroom print.
  13. That goes without saying ... Yoshi's
  14. I got the Sonny Rollins "NEWK'S TIME" SESSION 8.5x11 print for $75 several months ago. At the time, they said it was a special price before they took the photo section down for a while. I see that they are still selling it (and many other 8.5x11s) for that price. Hmmmmmmmm ...
  15. Here are some references: JazzWest KCSM - Jazz Datebook Jazz at Pearl's
  16. Start with THIS one: Together Again!
  17. FWIW, the version that is posted on eMusic is: 1) Capricorn Moon 2) 27 Cooper Square 3) Exhibitions There are no other liner notes and the cover shown is the one with brownie's photo.

    Favorite "Comper"?

Let's give it up for Harold Mabern! Great stuff with Lee Morgan and also George Coleman.
  20. Good point. Since I don't listen to lyrics very closely, they don't bother me too much. But you're right - both Santana and Beck have bad track records
  21. Some considerations: Santana's BORBOLETTA. I guess right now I'm a bit on a rock guitar kick so something guitar heavy would do. I wish Jimmy Page had a new project! ← BORBOLETTA would be a good start. You mentioned Page - what about Robert Plant's new one? I don't think it's particularly heavy on the guitar, but it's gotten some pretty good reviews.
  22. You've GOT to be kidding! If you cut back on the Coke, you could probably afford to BUY all that music.
  23. Well, I gotta say this new show - Charles Tolliver, Billy Harper, John Hicks - worth seeing, regardless.
  24. This live lineup or the original albums?
