It's always a struggle! I have several of those shows on my list too, but I also included the conflicts. I tend to make many of those decisions on the fly ... depending on my mood and logistics. Since it's impossible to see all the shows you want to see, I comfortable with whatever I see. Roscoe and Tyshawn is a must-see, though! I saw Parker's Expansion Trio in Chicago at the Sound & Gravity Festival last September. Definitely worth seeing.

I wasn't familiar with his work until I got this, and it opened my eyes. One of my favorite Mosaic boxes!

I always liked Kral Space (not too crazy about the cover, though)

He has a second album, but I think that's about it. Also very good! But otherwise he's a role player for other musicians. I can see that he would be happy to be recognized. -
They mentioned it in last week's newsletter: "We are deeply disappointed to announce that both Adrian Sherwood and Chucho Valdés have had to cancel their planned performances at Big Ears, due to circumstances beyond their control."

Allison's brother. An excellent album with a band of Bill Frisell, Jerry Douglas, Steve Jordan. -

I like Juliana. If I remember, I was a disappointed with that album because the drums sounded like cheap samples. -

Lots of "sub-combinations" for sure! Some of the albums I've listened to are Barbieri/Jensen. You're probably right about the HoF. There are so many overlooked artists anyway, it doesn't really matter. I forgot about "Steppin' Out" - VERY 'Garage'! -

That was an early favorite of mine. "Kicks", too! The last year or so I've been listening to a lot of David Sylvian, Mick Karn and Richard Barbieri albums. Great stuff! -

The trio was definitely noisy. Orcutt and Shelley were pretty locked in. I guess I don't have stamina to listen to extended distorted guitar jams as I once did. They were good at their craft, though. I liked Tortoise, but still not sure if I "get" them. It's an interesting group of musicians. The 2 guitarists pretty much stay in their own lanes, but the other 3 constantly rotate what instruments they play. Constantly moving from drums to vibes to electronics to keyboards. The music is pretty formless, mostly based on beats and definitely not "songs" in the traditional sense. More like soundscapes. -
Haven't heard this in a LONG time! Still holds up!

I'm sure they'll be pretty wild and noisy! Orcutt especially.
