  1. He likes it! Hey Mikey!
  2. They (or at least Peter Wolf) knew what tunes to cover. I knew The Contours' version of "Purse" from when it came out, but they led me to Otis Rush's original recording of "Homework". I hope they turned some other people on to the originals.
  3. Monk-Monk & Trane-Milestone 2-fer...Side 2 Mono...yummy. The J. Geils Band-1st self-titled Lp- Side 2 - tracks 1&2: Homework & First I Look At The Purse. Hell-yeah!
  4. Make that "one-armed 'stud' drummer." What a comeback!
  5. Play this record, and you will discover who your true friends are!
  6. I was trying to play this set the other day...Sunday I think. Well, it was pissin' off my wife. She was finally like, "I can't stand this shit"!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it was that cool "Ericka" song, and I'm like, "Can we wait 'til the cool part comes on"? (you know, with all the "Hey"!'s ) Oh and I had to play the 45 version of "Tatas-matoes." "Here come the Man"!!! After that, I had to take it off...to save my marriage!
  7. We should start a pool: Guess when Lon puts it on the block! The winner gets their pick of any Lp from Chuck's considerable stash! Heh...
  8. Thanks couw-boy! I like it. I was kinda upset that the ropeadope t-shirt doesn't have the correct colors as the original cover... But not REAL upset...just a little. heh...
  9. Really? Well, I'm pretty sure this was a single disc. I may go back to check. How's yer 2-Lp set sound?
  10. It's NOT like Million Dollar Legs. Whew! That's good to know! I may give it a go then...
  11. And it was a single lp, not a double.
  12. Some sealed copies of Mirrorball "appeared" at my local mom n pop record store. On the back cover, it had the "HDCD" logo...
  13. Why the urgency? There's shitloads of other Mosaics. Got all those? That being said, I've got a couple of the Tyners, and they're real nice. I've never heard the Williams material. I'd have to say I did not like the direction his music went as the Seventies progressed (that I've heard). That "Million Dollar Legs" stuff... no thanks. What's the music coming on the Select like?
  14. I'd like some feedback on this one as well. Welcome to the Forum, Mr. Cookbook.
  15. It's okay...you're excited. So am I.
  16. Nice to see ya, Wolff! Where ya been?
  17. I finally pulled the trigger on that one a week and a half ago...I was apprehensive as Side 1 is 29+ minutes long!!! But it was just so beautiful there in the store...smiling at me... Have no fear. It's a keeper. Just great, great music. And great sound too, for what it is. It is a stereo recording, but there are quite a few dropouts that I'm sure are in the master tape they used. (Ravi's personal copy; it was his dad's, given to him by the producer of the broadcasts.) Go for it. Chuck, I know exactly what you mean. I just go nuts when the $4 record sound as good or better than the $30 record.
  18. Hmmmm... I wonder if you're going to end up saving me $30? Hmmmm...
  19. Happy Birthday to Kevin! Enjoy them Moodies!
  20. Just finished: Bob Dylan-Bringing It All Back Home, Side 2 only (Sundazed Mono reissue) Now spinning: Bangles-Different Light, Side 2 only The wife said she wanted to hear some pop!
  21. I do have one Chuck, and it's the one Allen has just posted. Have no fear, soul is here.
  22. Just finished: Kenny Dorham-But Beautiful (Milestone 2-fer) Now up: Kenny Drew-Undercurrent (Classic 180 gm reissue/Stereo)
  23. "Dorham's Epitaph." Whoa...now that's just beautiful.
  24. Hey Chuck, Are ya gonna press any vinyl? That'd be nice, but I understand that it may be complicated...
