  1. Charles Lloyd - Discovery! - Columbia
  2. Keith Jarrett - The Survivor's Suite - ECM this one is sprinkled with German fairy dust...it sounds like they're in the room with me...
  3. Pat Metheny Group - ECM Is ECM vinyl dipped in fairy dust? Cuz they usually sound just superb.
  4. Barry Harris - Tokyo 76 - Xanadu 99 cents!!!
  5. Gerry Mulligan Meets Stan Getz - Verve V-8535 - Mono reissue with different cover...surely a 60's pressing... though slightly warped, vinyl plays just great when clamped and the cover is close to perfect, not that this redone cover is anything to write home about...
  6. Yep, that's right chewy-chew-chew...they've been doing it for several years now. They're fucking expensive though...and it takes a bit of effort to get a cdr from 'em...
  7. Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward whoa...this is what I've been missing...for years... Kinda cool to be discovering them now...
  8. There's this poster on a different board whose signature line reads: CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE-CONTROL FOR COOL! Press Alt-F4 to found out more!
  9. Thanks for sharing that, Kevin. Very personal...wow... You're lucky to have had him. As someone who never had a father, I can only imagine how cool it must have been to have someone to teach you stuff. I'm real sorry for you. Hang in there.
  10. As far as your concern about getting the most out of these mono records from Classic (or any mono record for that matter) without a mono cart or mono switch on your amp: The trick is to go to Radio Shack and get two Y cords. This will allow you to collapse the signal. I'll do this for serious listening and definitely when doing a needledrop. Works great! (My receiver has no mono switch either...)
  11. That ain't no record-player. That most definitely is a turntable. A record-player is like a Close 'n Play.
  12. PM sent on the Lacy, 2 Rollins & Moncur.
  13. John Coltrane - "The Believer." from the Prestige mid-70's two-fer "Black Pearls."
  14. I'm really only referring to the "Blue Note Sound" which were ususally Alfred Lion. As far as other labels and producers, I do not know.
  15. Just finished a needledrop of "The Piper At The Gates of Dawn" by The Pink Floyd...from the UK 2 Lp "A Nice Pair." Incredible... For timing reasons I had to choose something short and sweet. So I'm putting on behind Piper a buddy's copy of "1984" by Van Halen. Now playing "Sunny Afternoon" by The Kinks. From "A Compleat Collection, 20th Anniversary Edition". God I love this song...
  16. I believe the differences were in eq, reverb, & microphone placement.
  17. Chewy, Actually, some cds do feature authentic, vintage quad mixes on them. If you played them with the proper decoder, you would get the quad mix. I believe some older Columbia cds had them...like a Santana one I think... But yeah, you gotta have one of them old decoders... There are also the DTS cds put out by DTS Entertainment. Many classic rock titles with their original quad mixes intact. I'm surprised you've not seen these as they've been out for quite a while. I have a few...like Steve Miller's Fly Like An Eagle, E.C.'s 461 Ocean Blvd... Playable on most dvd players connected to a surround receiver. (pssst, and they can be copied too!)
  18. SS1, How many you got?
  19. Sam Rivers - Sizzle - ABC/Impulse - White Label Promo Cover is beat to shit...but wtf...it was only $0.99! Record sounds incredible! More mid-range magic...
  20. Monk - Live At The Five Spot - Milestone mid-70s two-fer.
  21. Right now I'm doing a needledrop of a buddy's copy of "the Best of Rod Stewart" from 1976. 2 Lp set mastered by Gilbert Kong. Midrange magic!!!
  22. I have a needledrop of that one... It's just so incredibly wonderfull...
  23. Where'd you find such a good deal on this record? At a local Mom n Pop shop... :shh
  24. halfway thru Side 2 of Relaxin' now...from the aforementioned Prestige 2-fer...
  25. Miles 5-tet - Cookin' - Prestige mid 70's two-fer with Relaxin'.
