  1. From: The Hipster's Dictionary - by Lester Young and included in this boxed set... ----------------------------- ding dong = an expression of approval every tub = every man for himself feel a draft = to detect racial prejudice or unfriendly surroundings give a reading to = to scold hat = a woman, as in "I see you're wearing a new hat"! have another helping = take another chorus" "I never even auditioned" = Young's response to allegations he was a junkie or a homosexual
  2. I thought I was really going over the top with that last photo! But thanks for the compliment. I admire and respect the work you do, I hope you know bud...you're just fantastic. I hope it really takes you places.
  3. You can't have my wife's Fiestaware! -_-
  4. This boxed set is 8 cds that encompasses the Pres' studio sets only, on the Verve-associated labels. Also contains two interviews on Disc 8, including one by...why looky here...Chris Albertson. (shameless name-dropping) Also contains Young's dictionary for hip slang. This set is great shape. (See numerous photos below...) All cd playing surfaces look immaculate/new. Unfortunately, this set has not grabbed me...perhaps I'll regret it in the future but finances force me to part with this very nice box. List Price: $129 YourParkertownmusic Price: $64. Shipping in USA/Canada $3.50. International at cost. C'mon...you know you want it. (Hopefully you guys haven't all blown your wad at the OJC blowout sale...) Paypal for international only please...otherwise I welcome your personal check or a M.O. Thanks!
  5. Thanks. That goes for both Lps?
  6. To bad you weren't at the rehearsals and sessions. I will die with memories of all this stuff. I will also remenber your piece in the Trib. Nice to see it's in the book. Thanks for paying attention. Nonaah is in the works. I should be in the studio in a couple of weeks. I'd appreciate it if you two could try to be quiet now...such talk gets me "over"-excited. Where might one find "L-R-G" & "The Maze" in good 'ol analog?
  7. Jungle Love-Morris Day & The Time a 45 rpm single...
  8. Gotcha...thanks Larry!
  9. Pearl Jam - Riot Act new appreciation for this one lately...just got the vinyl this weekend. on the sound!
  10. No, it's not. It's on CD on Chief, issued in 1989. Don't know it that's still available. In any case, it's about as important as music gets. Well, I apologize if I'm wrong. I had a hunch it might be, and then I checked the entry here: Nos 1 & 2 But you're sure, huh? Chuck? Chuck: Can you give us the definitive answer on this, please? ( Word! ) Purty please?
  11. Shine on you crazy diamond... RIP -------------------------- I WILL have those solo records by the end of the month!!! Mark my words!
  12. Muddy Waters at Newport - Chess :bwallace2:
  13. Hi Tony, Yep, I know what you're talking about. But as I've learned more and listened to some of these records it seems as though the technique can produce decent results. The post "Moanin'" albums that I've heard mono versions of have usually sounded just great. Same with the 200gm monos done by Bernie Grundman for Classic Records. It seems Rudy did this to have "more" control with setting balances when doing the mono mix by recording to 2-track stereo. Bernie Grundman uses Rudy's technique of folding in the channels 50/50 per Rudy's instructions (I'm getting this from the ads; you've seen 'em, I'm sure). And I do recall how SH had said something like it's really not the best way to go about doing a mono recording, and I'm sure that's probably true, but I'll be darned if I don't go ahead and enjoy 'em quite a lot. I guess I just take these things on a case by case basis. Just my two cents...
  14. I think the JRVG of Demon's Dance sounds like poo...
  15. Especially for a Wookie.
  16. If this were to happen, I would do cartwheels for a solid hour!!! Chewy, you're brilliant!

  18. Okay...listened on the way to downtown Denver today... It's just a sweet session, with the usual personality-laced tunes that Duke always seemed to come up with. And SoulStream: I hear what you mean about the "floating" feeling. Over nearly the entire set...at least the first 4 tracks. Enjoyed it. Edited cuz I accidental called SoulStream, "Lon." Sorry, I get confused somethimes...
  19. Hey Mark: Don't you already have the AEC 67/68 box? Cuz this music is on there, or are looking to rock this set analog? heh...
  20. I hope things get better, Lon.
  21. I'll throw it in the bag for today.
