  1. Batch Two: 1. Sonny Clark Trio - Audio Fidelity - it's now OOP but perhaps you can still find one. 2. Deep Purple - BBC In Concert - Audio Fidelity - incredible sound and presence on this one. It will rock your entire house off the foundation! These were both remastered by Steve Hoffman, who had previously done the DCC gold discs. (All Audio Fidelity cds/SACDs are done by SH.)
  2. 1. A Love Supreme 2. CCR-Cosmo's Factory And these are just stereo. But both are a GGT * * Guaranteed Good Time!
  3. So my wife and I had a "date night" this weekend. In celebration of the 11th anniversary of our first date. And the little sweetie surprises me with a sealed copy of the reissued Coltrane "Heavyweight Champion" boxed set!!! I mean !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like WOW !!!!!!!!!!!! What a nice package...much nicer than the cd set. All I've played so far have sounded just fabulous! She also gave me a sealed copy of "Miles Davis Greatest Hits" on Prestige from 1966! I'd been eyeing this one at the record store...promo copy...never opened...$30. It's in just perfect shape. Played well, but didn't sound as good as the Coltranes...but did with a little eq! Great vinyl weekend! B-)
  4. I agree. I've found some of the Stanley T BN-LA's in minty condition and they sound superb!
  5. I've got a couple for sale(JR Monterose and Griffin/Congregation), as I now have the Classic versions. PM sent! B-)
  6. All of you must have two left thumbs...I've got no problem with this packaging. I'm easily able to remove and replace the discs from this case. The booklet, while small, is put together very well. Crybabies! B-)
  7. It's a very nice avatar, Lon.
  8. New blood in the Vinyl Forum!! Welcome, Pasta!!! "Baby Face" Willette: Stop And Listen ('94 "Wally" reissue) Hampton Hawes: Here And Now Mulligan/Baker Mosaic Where can one find more of those "Wally" BNs? Last nite: Lee Morgan "Candy" - regular BN reissue, not the Classic but wow! It's the mono version! Freddie Redd "Shades of Redd" - same regular BN Reissue as above. This is stereo though...sounds good. Rahsaan Roland Kirk "Blacknuss" - Rhino reissue. Wow... cool music... $10 each at a local mom n pop store.
  9. That Aerosmith roller-coaster is indeed, quite KICK-ASS! The music sounds great! B-)
  10. from whom...? B-) yeah, thanks Scott! Just funnin' ya! Glad yer diggin' it! B-)
  11. Oh, I can't argue against that Is that were the expression "cut-out" comes from? How about the Randy Weston I mentioned above - was it ever on CD? (Maybe in Japan?) Yes, YRH, there is a Japanese cd, which I picked up a few weeks back. It's been a while, but I recal diggin' it the couple times I spun it...
  12. British term for New Year's Eve. My mother was Scottish. They also talk about "first footing", which is a reference to the first person who crosses your threshold in the New Year being an indication of the direction the coming months will take. Apparently, a dark-haired person is the luckiest. Anybody's version of "That Old Time Rock 'N Roll" does the same thing at any New Years' wingdings I've attended. Hey Patricia, Thanks for the info. B-) Hey, I've already learned something today!
  13. Hogmanay? Que? Whatever, sounds fun to me!
  14. The Who Sell Out - from the German 'Phases' boxed set. It sounds soooo good! P.S. Is "I Can See For Miles" the greatest rock song ever written?
  15. Perhaps you should check out the "Pay-It-Foward Music Giveaway" thread... Nice things are happening there. B-)
  16. Are we sure this is an original? That font on the address on the record label looks like a font I've seen on Japanese Blue Note reissues... Anyone? Buehler? But I could be wrong, as I'm only just learning about BN vinyl...
  17. But, where?
  18. Yep, I picked up Big John's "Let "Em Roll" that must be a Rare Groove vinyl edition. It sounds great!
  19. 2 questions: 1) What's the difference between Love In (which was recorded at the Fillmore) and Live at Fillmore? I have the former, not the latter. What tracks are on it? 2) How does the USSR album compare to Forest Flower and Love In? And a comment: get a copy of Soundtrack (which is available on Rhino as a 2on1 w/FF) -- there's an extremely grooving version of "Sombrero Sam" on there, as well as an excellent funky "Forest Flower". Guy 1) I believe it is music recorded from the same time/sessions as Love-In. 2) I haven't listened to the USSR album enough yet, maybe once, for it to really sink in yet. I believe Sangry gave it a earlier in the thread. I'll be listening again soon... I have my eye on a mint Stereo copy of Soundtrack. They want friggin' $15 for the damn thing. My vinyl habit is gonna break me yet... Thanks for the rec's, Guy.
  20. Okay, I received the lps. The Blue Notes are not the Wally Traugatt mastered ones...darn it. I ordered four: Soul Station Something Else Two Souls In One The All-Seeing Eye SS & SE were horribly warped. Yikes! The other two were fine, sound pretty good, but not revelatory. The guy at vinyl.com was great about wanting to keep me happy and sent out replacements. The replacements, sadly, were warped as well. But he's giving me a refund of the price and my return shipping cost. Excellent customer service! I'll be buying from vinyl.com again for sure!
