Thanks, but that doesn't work for me either. I am using a "Squeezebox" if that makes a difference. Rupe -

I would like to listen to this program via a device that requires me to input the URL for the stream. I tried mms://bluelake.ncats.net/bluelake as well as http://bluelake.ncats.net:8000 without success. Any other suggestion? Rupe edits for difficulty formatting urls. -

cd storage for large collections
Rupertdacat replied to tranemonk's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I have been very satisfied with the 600 CD racks (other sizes available) from Boltz. These can be daisy chained. They are efficient, attractive, and strong. http://www.boltz.com/tours/cdGallery/index.html http://www.boltz.com/tours/cdGallery/360.html Rupe -
Thanks for the site. My hope was that someone (such as J. Larson did) would let me know of the perfect little traveler's place near the Festival venue. The kind of places I like to stay at when traveling are usually best known by locals. The last time I was in NYC I stayed at a well located place in a small, clean room that cost me $79/night. It has since been converted to a "boutique hotel" where rooms start at $350! I may very well plan to attend the Vision Festival next year, in which case I will get on the hunt much sooner- though the first place recommended in this thread sounds like a very nice "splurge". Thanks for the tip. I wasn't able to make a reservation, but perhaps next year... Rupe

http://www.visionfestival.org/index2.php, I am quite tempted to attend this festival. The venue is the Angel Orensanz Foundation, 172 Norfolk St. (a few blocks S. of Tompkins Sq. Park). Anyone know of a reasonably priced place to stay? It doesn't have to be anything special- just clean, and quiet enought to sleep. Thanks, Rupe

The Squeezebox has no capability to record a stream. Rupe -

I am not familiar with what rostasi makes available. Is it a stream? Do you know the URL for it? Rupe -
As I type this I am listening to the live 128kbps MP3 audio stream from WKCR (Columbia Univ.). This digital stream (available from the radio station's website) is bypassing my nothing special computer soundcard, undergoing digital to analog conversion outside the (electrically) noisy computer environment, and being amplified and transduced by my Tivoli Audio Model One table radio. It sounds quite good. Bridging the computer and the Tivoli Model One is a "Squeezebox" device ($250 - $300, slimdevices.com) At the input end, the Squeezbox connects to one's computer (or network) via either ethernet cable or wirelessly. At the output end, the Squeezebox connects to one's audio system via either digital cable (to a DAC) or analog cable (to an amp). Lest this sound complicated, rest assured; if I could set this up, so could you. Allow me to repeat myself- IT SOUNDS GOOD! Rupe

... listening to the live stream from wkcr. Thanks for this tip. I am routing the digital audio stream (128kbps, mp3) to a Slim Devices "Squeezebox" which, in my case, is also doing the digital/analog conversion. The resulting analog stream is then fed to a Tivoli Audio Model One radio. Sounds pretty good... Rupe

I learned of the destination-out.com website tonight from Scott Hreha on his weekly radio show "One Final Note" (kfai.org). Scott's show this week is a tribute to Sam Rivers in honor of his 83rd birthday. From the d-o website: "An mp-free jazz blog focusing on rare or out-of-print music. Songs will be available for about two weeks, and are for evaluation purposes only. Attend concerts. Buy music." Currently available on the d-o site are: AMBER MAUVE ONYX+TOPAZ Sam Rivers Hues ABC/Impulse : 1975 Rupe
