clifford_thornton Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 This looks up my alley as well. I'll have to look into a copy - CD or otherwise. Quote

sidewinder Posted April 6, 2012 Report Posted April 6, 2012 (edited) Yep, that CD twofer is fine! Picked my CD up for a couple of bucks at that mega-brilliant Fantasy sale a few years ago, thanks to our Mr Weizen George Braith 'Extension' (BN NY USA, stereo) Edited April 6, 2012 by sidewinder Quote

jeffcrom Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Traditional Folksongs & Dances of Greek (Lyra mono). I found this sealed album, apparently from the 1960's, today, and feel like I won the lottery, in a small way. This could have been a tacky "tourist" record, but it's beautiful - the real deal. Among the twelve tracks, there are a couple of excellent vocals by Irene Konitopoulos, but the real gems are the three tracks by the great Greek clarinetist Tassos Chalkias. I love the clarinet tradition of the northeast Mediterranean - Greece, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, etc., and these tracks are primo examples of that tradition. Quote
