John & Beverley Martin -- The Road to Ruin -- (Warner Bros., US pressing)

Nice one, Clifford.

John Martyn's albums, with or without Beverley, up to and including One World are a pretty impressive run

Great music but I was never a fan of the bootleg-quality sound.

I'm not a fan of the sound either, but the music wins out.

Charles Earland - Living Black! (Prestige). Green label RVG pressing. Based on the personnel, I was expecting to like this more than I do. Good reviews too. I think what bugs me most is when Earland plays a sustained single tone for far too long. It's gets to be like an audio ear drill.

Dollar Brand, African Space Program (Enja). Great music, though this is one album that sounds much better on CD. I've listened to a few copies of this over the years and all have sounded not so great.

31784835qq.gif! I can not compare it, but the LP from 1974 sounds excellent!

I went to see Defunkt in the Spring of '82 and they ended up as the opening act for an unannounced show by The Time and Prince.  Bowie was not pleased. Only time I saw any of the bands involved.

My early vinyl pressing has some bad distortion.

Curtis Peagler and the Jazz Disciples had a 45 out on Columbia, two years after their initial splash on the scene. Definitely surprised to discover this so I went for it from an Amazon seller. Nice.
