HutchFan Posted December 31, 2018 Report Posted December 31, 2018 More Chico Hamilton: Chico Hamilton - The Chico Hamilton Special (Columbia, 1961) Not as powerful as Chic, Chic, Chico -- but it's still damn good music. This is another one that's never reissued in digital format. It's now January 31, and 2019 is nigh! Best wishes to my fellow jazz-brothers and -sisters on organissimo.com. I hope that every one of you have a fantastic new year. Quote

Interesting it even didn't make it on those 2-on-1 Impulse releases .... btw some great Harold Land work in offer .... Quote

IIRC, this band backed Billie Holiday on a Granz date just before or just after this recording was made. Quote

jeffcrom Posted January 3, 2019 Report Posted January 3, 2019 Gary Burton - Something's Coming (RCA Victor stereo) The Chicagoans: The Austin High Gang 1928-1930 (MCA Jazz Heritage Series). These Jazz Heritage LPs are not ideal in terms of quality of the transfers, but this one doesn't sound bad when I run mono, and there are some tracks here which I don't elsewhere. The Yardbirds - Having a Rave Up (Epic mono). Side one of this US LP has 1965 studio recordings with Jeff Beck on guitar; side two is taken the British album Five Live Yardbirds: live in London in 1964 with Mr. Clapton on guitar. Quote
