Kurt Anderson Posted Wednesday at 04:15 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 04:15 PM I had a long flight last week and read a biography of Chet Baker. Ever since I got back I've been doing a deep dive into late period Chet, when he recorded frequently in Europe, usually in trio format without a drummer. The best records from this period that I know of are Mr. B, a heart-stopping trio featuring Michel Grailler on Timeless, and the two Circle dates from the Subway Club, which are a whole 'nother trip, with Baker taking LONG uptempo solos. .
