Dizzy Gillespie; The Greatest Trumpet Of Them All Verve/Poygram(France)

Now that's a rarity (and a very good album, too!) I'm afraid I only have an audio tape of a friend's copy.

It's on the Mosaic Dizzy Gillespie Verve box.

I still have my French Verve LP!

Now spinning...

Jackie McLean 'Tippin' the Scales' (BN/King)

with Sonny Clark, Butch Warren, Art Taylor.

The original release with notes by Terry Martin.

Yeah, one more good reason to get the Gillespie Mosaic set. I have that session too on a HMV mono LP from the 50s.

Steve Lacy - Sortie - (GTA Italian original)

I think I hate you! :) Do you know how impossible that one is to find?

Yeah, the Polydor is a bit easier to source and I prefer its artwork, actually... broken-mirror image of Carla Bley!

Instant Composers Pool 002 (Mengelberg, Bennink, Tchicai):

And ICP Orchestra 022 Live Soncino:

Great stuff. I keep trying to get that Soncino but every copy I've had has been badly warped. Rrgh.

Ouch! I'd hate to think of any of these being warped. It is a great spin, and tough to find. I picked mine up from a Japanese place called Bamboo Music. It plays straight as an arrow, so I'm elated with the transaction.

Don't know of a complete reissue, but a couple of tracks showed up here: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1037144
