Kikuchi and Gene Perla also knock the stuffing out of their instruments .Thanks Mark (mjazzg) for pointing me in the direction of this one. Glad you like it, Adrian. It is very good meanwhile I have thanks to pass onto Niko for posting the Mike Zwerin Trio earlier this week as I've now been enjoying these two as Niko observed, Giuffre-esque but with Django instead of Jim Hall. Lovely stuff Quote
Clunky Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 Billy Bang -----Outline No. 12-------(Celluloid OAO) This perhaps lack the "danceable" quality of some Bang but it's definitely better than it's cheap price ($10) on Discogs might suggest. Eleven players are listed but they're rarely playing together at the same time. It sounds like a very small group playing chamber free jazz. Amongst the cast are Wilbur Morris, David Murray, Charles Tyler, Khan Jamal and Sunny Murray. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 Kenny Burrell with the Brother Jack McDuff Quartet - Crash! (Prestige). A nice date that I didn't even realize was on CD as I've never seen it. Quote

mjazzg Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 (edited) Pat Martino - We'll Be Together Again [Muse] spare and beautiful duets with Gil Goldstein on electric piano. I need some more Martino of this vintage, I think Edited April 25, 2018 by mjazzg Quote

Both the story and the signed 'El Hombre' any particular recommendations amongst the Muse titles? I was looking at 'Exit' earlier Edited April 25, 2018 by mjazzg Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted April 25, 2018 Report Posted April 25, 2018 Bill Evans - Live at Art D'Lugoff's Top Of The Gate (Resonance). I forgot I bought this 10" record at a previous Record Store Day. Keeping it going with more Bil Evans - How My Heart Sings! (OJC pressing). An exclamation point record! It must be good! Quote

I like ALL of Martino's Muse recordings, but Consciousness and Live are my two faves. 32 Jazz reissued them in a 2-CD set called Head and Heart. Along with One, Two, Free, don't overlook Martino's work with Kloss on Sky Shadows (also featuring Jaki Byard). 8 hours ago, mjazzg said: Pat Martino - We'll Be Together Again [Muse] spare and beautiful duets with Gil Goldstein on electric piano. I did the same at a performance here in Georgia and got We'll Be Together Again signed. Martino was very gracious and friendly -- and he put on a helluva show! Edited April 26, 2018 by HutchFan Quote
