Dan Gould Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Some may recall the AOTW I conducted with a rare Charles Kynard Pacifc Jazz LP. Well, with the permission of the sender, I'd like to share the message I received: Hi Dan: After a search on Kynard, I found your July 2003 entry to the forum recommending Charles Kynard's Where It's At. I followed the entries in hopes of finding where to get a copy. It's sad that I don't have that LP or even a cassette tape or other recording of that album in my collection. Charles Kynard is my brother, and I am championing the cause of creating a full and complete collection of his work, at least for the family. According to the forum entries, many were able to listen to the music. Where did they find it? Thanks for your help. Gary Kynard Of course, I have agreed to provide a burn to Gary, and in fact, I have asked, and Gary is willing, to share some stories and recollections of his brother (whose name is pronounced Ki-NARD, by the way). Let's hear it for this amazing thing called the Internet! And let's hear it for Charles Kynard! And let's welcome Gary Kynard to the forum! Quote
jazzbo Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Yeah Gary, welcome! Yes, all props to the net! I can fondly remember the time I got an email out of the blue from Tony Sparbaro (Spargo)'s grandson! Quote
Brad Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Gary welcome and hope you find a home here! Quote
RDK Posted May 20, 2004 Report Posted May 20, 2004 Cool story indeed! Now you've got me curious - yet another album to seek out... Quote
ghost of miles Posted May 21, 2004 Report Posted May 21, 2004 Great story, Dan! I just got a very nice e-mail from Frank Kimbrough the other day--he did a search on his new CD and came across the thread that I started here. Turns out he roomed in college with one of Jsngry's Quartet Out bandmates... in any case, he now posts here on occasion. Quote
