Part of my attraction is I really dig her voice in this set... Just kinda subtle, raw sexy.....

I really WANT to like the O'Day that much, but just doesn't get there for me.

I'm enjoying the new Goodman Mosaic of the Columbia material. The sound is excellent on this set! Lots of nice Cootie Williams.

I'm probably going to cave and get the Goodman despite the alternate tracks...

The Goodwin is good.

I guess that's part of my problem, I don't find O'Day's voice to be sexy.

I don't listen to her mainly for sexiness but because of the high quality of the singing, at least in a jazz context. I think she had a terrific rhythmic sense, and a wonderful grasp of nuance, dynamics, timing, timbre...all that good stuff. Sex appeal is just icing on the cake, although I get that at times, too.

Sam Rivers - disc 2. Man, I love Hancock's solo on "Dance of the Tripedal"!
