Jim Dye Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 That's awesome, Paul! Congratulations. That's no easy test. When I was looking for a job this past summer, Paul was kind enough to get me an interview with a bank in Detroit. Although things didn't work out, I am very grateful for the opportunity he gave me. It's always good to hone your interview skills. Plus, I was able to meet one of the Organissimo Forums' nicest members! Good luck in all your future endeavors! Quote

Sure hope you end up moving to Michigan in the near future, but it's probably unlikely. Thanks Dan and Evan. Edited November 13, 2004 by connoisseur series500 Quote
alankin Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Did I forget to say I forwarded this thread to your boss? He already knows I hate his guts. I was making some calls a couple months back and unknowingly called a bank customer who grew up with my boss. "Did he have a personality back then?" I asked his childhood friend. I'm sure that one got back to him... That's one way to give yourself motivation to search for a new job! In any case, congrats and good luck! Quote
JSngry Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Congrats, best wishes, and kudos for making a move away from the slave rather than staying and whining. Quote
Peter Johnson Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Paul, that's great GREAT news. I had no idea you were trying to get that in your bag of tricks. I haven't taken the test, but I have several friends who did (two who weren't in the lucky 66% percent), so I've witnessed first hand what it takes. A HUGE accomplishment--well done! Quote
brownie Posted November 13, 2004 Report Posted November 13, 2004 Anyway, thanks everyone for putting up with my grumpiness and stress over the last few weeks. I'm getting loaded tonight.... To be frank, I did not notice any difference in your posts. They all look grumpy to me Now that you are probably sobering up, hearty congratulations! Does that mean that you will now have a real job? Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted November 13, 2004 Author Report Posted November 13, 2004 Does that mean that you will now have a real job? Unlikely...but at least I'll be wasting my time in my own city instead of commuting 2 1/2 hours per day to Dearborn. (OK, I've been grumpy for the last seven months with this horrid job) Quote

They're all a big bunch of Bolsheviks, just as most of corporate America is. Really??? I did not know this!!! I must consort with these men of whom you speak... they will be invaluable allies in my bid to topple this country's intractably capitalist regime!!! Many, many, many congratulations to you, Comrade Conn. You are highly worthy of the better employment that you seek. Quote

PHILLYQ Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Nice going, Conn. That exam is tough- a few years ago a whole gang of people were busted for using ringers to take the test for them! Great accomplishment, hope you get a new job that you actually enjoy. Quote

Since we're sharing personal exam horror stories, the 1st year comprehensive exams here at the Yale econ PhD program were horrendous. Really appreciate it when you post some of your "lessons of economics" on this board. I've certainly enjoyed them. It seems you are philosophically aligned to the Economist magazine and it's writers. connoisseur series500 Posted December 6, 2004 Author Report Posted December 6, 2004 I've just quit my old job and taken on a new one. Don't know exactly when I'll be starting, but is should be soon. Couldn't have gotten it without the NASD exam. As I said to myself while studying, "I cannot afford to fail this exam." Sure hope things work out with this new position. Quote
