Orders over $20 ship for free. Not the greatest savings, but allright if you poke around long enough online. Quote

So, play yer cards right, and you could save a significant amount! Quote
Late Posted April 24, 2006 Author Report Posted April 24, 2006 Thanks for the heads-up, Al. I was going to "resist" using either of those codes ... until I learned of the additional 20% off. Some box sets start to become awfully attractive ... Quote
Free For All Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) Some box sets start to become awfully attractive ... Yes, I used the coupon to purchase the Tatum group box. It came to $61 w/free shipping. Not too bad! (the lowest Amazon vendor price is $89 and CDU's price is $82) Edited April 24, 2006 by Free For All Quote
Uncle Skid Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 Awesome! Picked up The Complete Hot Five And Hot Seven Recordings (Legacy) for $35, w/free shipping. Quote
Late Posted April 24, 2006 Author Report Posted April 24, 2006 Ordered four Black Saint titles — they came to $11.55 a pop (shipping included)! Didn't have David Murray's Home, and always wanted to pick it up. For some reason, Cadence doesn't carry that title. Quote
Guy Berger Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 The bastards charged me tax so it was a little more expensive than Late's order, but I got Paul Motian's Misterioso, Henry Threadgill's The Spirit of Nuff Nuff and the self-titled Old and New Dreams. The last one is probably a dicey proposition since there's a 50-50 chance they'll send me the ECM version instead. Guy Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Hmmm, that brings down the cost on a Cellar Door set to only $70, or $11.67 per disc (6 discs). Tempting. VERY tempting... Quote
Uncle Skid Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Cellar Door at Your Music = $35.94? $5.99 per disc! Quote
GregK Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Cellar Door at Your Music = $35.94? $5.99 per disc! + free shipping, which is usually 3-5 days Quote
Aggie87 Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Cellar Door at Your Music = $35.94? $5.99 per disc! I won't understand why anyone in the U.S. wouldn't buy it from yourmusic.com. For your $70, you could get the Cellar Door box plus 6 other discs, no catches or commitments. It's a no-brainer. Quote
Late Posted April 25, 2006 Author Report Posted April 25, 2006 Guy — nice score! Tell us what you think of Nuff when you get it. (I dig it.) Quote

Isn't Your Music like BMG or Columbia House issues, with different packaging (sometimes substantially different, in the case of box sets)?? Can't cite specific examples, but years ago when a college roommate of mine was a BMG club member, the stuff he got wasn't always the same as the "legit" issue, and I seem to remember a couple box-sets he got were long-box style, instead of being just like the version you could buy in stores. (And then there's that "club" stuff that's in place of the barcode -- not that I love barcodes, but I dislike the "club CD" text even more.) Quote

Uncle Skid Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Rooster, As far as I can tell, ALL of the box sets I've ordered from YM are indistinguishable from the sets that can be purchased from other online merchants, and from bookstores like Borders and B&N. I have the following from YM, and even though I don't have Cellar Door (yet!), I'd bet that it is no different. I'm sure others will chime in here if this is not the case. * The Complete Norman Granz Jam Sessions * Count Basie And His Orchestra - America's #1 Band - The Columbia Years * Count Basie - The Complete Decca Recordings * John Coltrane - The Heavyweight Champion: The Complete Atlantic Recordings * Miles Davis - Seven Steps: The Complete Columbia Recordings 1963-1964 BUT, many (if not all) of the single CDs I've received from them DO have a different bar code. For instance, the Blue Note RVGs and Conns say "Mfg for BMG Direct". Other than that, they also appear to be identical. I hope this helps! Quote
Big Al Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 * Count Basie And His Orchestra - America's #1 Band - The Columbia Years Other than that, they also appear to be identical. I hope this helps! What Skid sez. I also have that Basie set and, other than the bar code, it is completely indistinguishable from what you'd find at any bricknmortar. Quote

I just looked at my copy of "America's #1 Band", and its bar code and packaging have nothing to indicate that it was from BMG. But, my copy of Basie "Complete Decca Recordings" does have "Mfd. for BMG Direct" underneath the bar code. With or without BMG bar code... some very fantastic (and affordable) music is available on YM. Quote
