catesta Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 I most certainly could point you in the right direction, but..... Quote
l p Posted January 27, 2005 Author Report Posted January 27, 2005 i don't need to be pointed in a direction. i need someone who has this to trade a dub of it. but thanks for your invaluable input. Quote
couw Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 why don't you just order a copy from dusty groove instead Quote
catesta Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 why don't you just order a copy from dusty groove instead STOP POINTING!!! He doesn't like that. Quote
robviti Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 betcha don't mind when she points! that's the last one, promise. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 In all seriousness, I bought a SEALED copy of this off eBay last year for $7. If you're patient, you can find it. Quote
Leeway Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 (edited) No, no pointing, he said "hook me up" : HOOKUP Edited January 28, 2005 by Leeway Quote
Dan Gould Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Check this out: Sealed copies for $8.99 HERE Quote
Bill Fenohr Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 The reason you are seeing so many sealed copies is that some company reissued the lp on vinyl. I do have to say i am a fan of both Joe Chambers and Larry Young, but i have always been underwhelmed by this album. Quote

I think mine is an original pressing, but I'll have to double check. Quote

I think I know what you're talking about - I felt similarly at first, expecting something in the vein of his organ/drums duos on the Blue Note LPs, but once I got beyond that ...... pure musical poety. JSngry Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I'm w/Mike on this one. Took me a few weeks to get over my disappointment at expectations (mine) not being met, but once I did, hey... Quote
Bill Fenohr Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 (edited) Jim & Mike, Seeing that i respect both of your opinions i got Double Exposure out and just finished listening to it. Sorry guys but my opinion has not changed. The piano pieces could have just as easily been released on Windam Hill Records as a New Age album. Actually it probably would have sold more that way. The two pieces that feature Larry Young just remind me of bands like Emerson,Lake and Palmer, alot of energy, but not much happening. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. l p Posted February 9, 2005 Author Report Posted February 9, 2005 The two pieces that feature Larry Young ... young doesn't play on the whole album? Quote
Bill Fenohr Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 lp, Although Young is present on five of the six tracks, he only really solos on two songs. On the other four, Chambers is featured on piano with Larry playing a backup role on three, and Joe playng alone on the fourth. You have to remember that this was a Joe Chambers album. The title of the album is a bit misleading IMO. Quote
BFrank Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 Yet, it would be a totally different album without the undercurrent of Larry Young's atmospherics all the way through. Quote
