then you should probably just put it away and save it for that rainy day company.

Rachel, I can always make you your own batch. All you have to do is ask!

Hey Alison! It's nice to see you here with your own screen name; you need to post like mad now.

Your chocolate chip cookie brittle sounds so good. ( I bet it's totally history by now. ^_^ ) I would love the recipe!

I don't feel so bad now, having polished off my batch this evening.

Tonight's dinner: Tonjiru, which is miso soup with thinly sliced pork and burdock added, along with leek, potato, and carrot. Canteloupe as an appetizer and a Moretti Rosso to wash it all down.

Friday night. I made up a batch of my late mom's potato-corn chowder. A couple modifications- I start with a couple slices of diced bacon in the pot- when it's crispy, I add the onions, then the potatoes and some water/chicken broth. Later I add the corn, seasoning (Old Bay!) and then I add shrimp, clams, crabmeat and some chopped up pollock (or whatever fish I end up with), so it becomes a fish chowder. Even though I live in the midwest and therefore have to use some canned seafood, I must say it's still mighty tasty.

Comfort food for a chilly evening. Cheers! :)

Tonight we had tuna and mushrooms cooked with fenugreek, cumin, green chillies, coriander and various spices in a creamy sauce, plus a kind of mini Chinese cabbage we have here cooked with tomatoes, eggs, chilies , garam masala etc. Ate with white rice. Apple for desert. It was good.

I'm going to try my hand at some tandoori style chicken tonight. My father-in-law got me an awesome set of Indian spices, so my first attempt shall be the tandoori. I don't have a 600 degree clay oven, but I think it will still be good.

I should look up how to make some naan.

A terrific dinner tonight with my significant other before the symphony. Nice bottle of Spanish red accompanying a beet salad with seasoned goat cheese; we both had scallops, nicely pan-fried with mashed yams and kale. Yum. Symphony sucked, but the food, we remember.

Oysters three ways with Cava for New Year's, rest of the menu as of yet undetermined!

Reuben sandwiches, fried potatos and salad. Leftover meat and spuds from the weekend. Love this time of year. :) Ann cooked 13 lbs of meat and we still have 2 uncooked briskets in the fridge.
