brownie
It's Friday the Thirteenth. Let's hear it for Thelonious Monk!
Late
Love this tune. And I'm secretly glad that Ray Copeland missed the gig! (Julius Watkins is the biscotti to Rollins' espresso. OK, bad analogy.)
shawn·m
Very cool number. I’m also fond of Branford Marsalis’ cover.
Alexander Hawkins
Was just thinking the same thing when I realised the date today! Very cool tune.

Big Al
Just listened to this while reading the story behind this session detailed in the Monk Prestige box. The annotator is correct, they really do sound like they're running outta gas about halfway through. Still a fascinating performance, nonetheless. jazzbo
I first heard this on the "Big Band and Quartet" lp. Loved it immediately!
GA Russell
My introduction to it was the Town Hall orchestra recording. Still enjoy it!
