For those of you reading this thread who may be unaware of Soulstaion1's "deal" with Aric that has reverberated through this board and the Blue Note for all these years it was this:

Soulstaion1: Burn 6 CDs from the Blue Note box set

Aric: Go to store and buy "new" "Money Jungle" CD

Aric claims the burns arrived and didn't play. He also claimed he was broke. Neither is a valid excuse for backing out of the deal.

Aric was a sap for getting into this deal. He agreed to trade a $10 (min) CD for $1.50 worth of illegal CDs.

Aric acts like a jerk all the time and I won't miss his posts. However, Soulstation1 screwed up this board royally with this vendetta of his over an illegal deal gone south. A deal in which he was bascially ripping off Blue Note and Dexter Gordon's widow as well as Aric. Aric acts like an immature jerk, but Soulstation1 isn't far behind with his actions.

I wonder if Soulstaion1 is still making deals like this? I don't many who would appreciate an offer of a burn for a new CD.

People leave boards of their own volition. A board shouldn't disallow people from posting and responding to posts under the duress of a person leaving.

I agree but this is what happens when a small group of people have all the power. A thread on Gilad Atzmon was stopped by one of the board moderators, because a small number of people did not like the points that were being made.

At the same time a smell number of people seem to be able to use whatever language they want, incite whatever flame they want and nothing is said, at least not publically.

No one here wants to stop free discussion and freedom of speech, but you (and that pal of yours that popped up there, too) are simply NOT up to discussion THOSE things. I said so over there, others said so, too (although a certain third party did state no one said anything...) and there was even one brave guy trying to discuss it with you. It seems you just don't listen to what others say and go on and on with you own schmontzes and then say the others don't listen to what you said.

Once again we see the kind of person you are, a bully and one that has a very selective view of the issues raised in the debate you mention.

When you have something origional to say, when you show the ability to reflect on the kind of response you may get from the general tone of your post, then we can have a discussion.

Either you lack any real insight into the wider issues, or you just like to create a situation in which it can appear that I and some others are being really offensive. Either way it shows me a little insight in the kind of person you are, and that is not a person that I feel I could have a conversation with.

Discussion for you seems to involve an aggressive, abusive tone and the hope that you will find enough people that share your views. I will await a response that shows me that you can infact discuss and debate, in a way that is conjusive to the development of the issues at hand.

Threats of death aside, let's not forget he has said some stupid, insulting, and offensive things in recent times. I know Jim has had do delete several posts made by Aric to Warne Marsh's son about greed and I believe the "sandnigger" posts were eliminated as well.

Those are just a few that come to mind.

Aric was not the magic fucking glue that made this place work and held shit together. As I said before, he was indeed a character, but what the hell did he expect? The guy obviously crossed the line. Was he provoked? Hell yes,

but the guy snapped like a little punk.

I stay out of the Politics Forum, for the most part, and don't care to read what goes on in there but, once someone starts posting anti-semitic garbage, steps need to be taken. In my opinion, any posts that are racist, sexist, anti-semitic, etc. are attacks upon some of our fellow posters, specifically, and offensive to (most of) the rest of us.

If these racist posts keep getting spewed on the board I would hope that b3-er would delete them and ban the person posting them.

Beyond that, everyone should really take a step back and take a deep breath. There is way too much negative junk on the board recently. How about, rather than attacking another poster or getting worked up because of some interpersonal issues of people most of us have never met we all spent the same time and effort posting on an album we love or giving some recognition to an artist who hasn't been discussed recently.

It would make the board a lot nicer place to hang at and maybe some of the people who are currently taking timeouts from here will come on back.

Man, I can't bring myself to care that Aric was banned...yet there is 4-5 more pages since last night! Jim did the right thing already! SS1 doesn't cause trouble with anyone else, it just stuck in his craw that this punk ripped him off, and didn't even care. I'll start a thread asking if any naked, gay, Asian band singers who had sex with Warne Marsh while watching Greta Garbo in Queen Christina, if that will help people cope better with the "loss"

But the two taken together, plus a changed general attitude brought about by some, plus the continous ignoring practiced by others who like to pull out the same "Chill out", "Get a life", "This board is not important", etc. phrases are ruining the atmosphere on this board ... and then some.

Too many people don't care here if other members are insulted and if the whole board is smeared with crap posts. They just sit back and ignore the stuff, wishing it away. Try reading back to around October or so and see how much has gone away. None of it. It's just growing, day by day.

I am not anti-semitic, you think I am so go ahead and try and prove it, because that is what you want to do. I painted a different picture than you did, I used different arguments, I quoted Norman Finkelstein and Noam Chomsky, two very prominant Jews who also have a different view to you. I highlighted the way, the abuses that Israel has heaped on the Palistinians etc etc
