It seems like in the Bay Area and California its always more. Its been 3.60 for months now and I expect the summer for it to go to 3.80-4.00.

I honestly can't remember the last time it was under two dollars.

$3.44 in Whitehall today. Up a dime since last night.

Where's Eliot Spitzer when we need him?

Get a grip, man!

Spitzer and his lawsuits only drive up costs for consumers as he did in the financial field. Where was your big check from the "mutual fund scandal?" Fund companies paid a fine; consumers got nothing, and you have to pay more as Janus and other companies beef up their compliance departments and pass the costs down to the fundholders.

But hey, he made a lot of headlines, put himself in office and was able to spend some big $ on some pussy.

I filled up for $3.21 this morning because I saw that the Citgo was up to $3.45. That station tends to be the canary. :)

Hugo probably just needed some extra help funding that little skirmish with Colombia

No longer do, but it gave me an insider's view of the b.s. that went on, and still does. But more importantly, I am still a financial services consumer as are many on this board, I presume.

Further discussion really belongs in the politics thread, but you can read about him in the Political section, as there is a thread over there.

Christ, remind me never to pay attention to any of your thoughts dealing with the music industry. You work/worked there, right? <_<

Are you kidding? In Italy is $ 8.14 per gallon, if I correctly converted all the stuff.

I think it was just over six when I was there in 2006. I remember getting gas just outside of Cortona and I guess it was full service because a guy came out with a gas hose leaking gas and smoking a cigarette and filled my tank. I went into pay and they had a full service bar/cafe and the bartender who was a six foot two Sophia Loren look a like wanted to know if I wanted a espresso or a shot of grappa.

I love Italy.

ok, I embellished the part about gas leaking out of the hose but he did walk up with the gas hose smoking a cigarette and the bartender/cashier was gorgeous and was pouring stiff drinks. Great county.

That's damn cheap ! Minimum I've seen round here is £1.03 a litre, which equates to about £4.60 a gallon, ie. a socking $9.75 a gallon :o

There were 'plans' by the Government to add another 2p per litre tax in todays budget but looks like they might defer it. Maybe they think they will have another fuel mutiny on their hands.

Around here minimum is £1.039. But where you have to go to get that price, you might as well pay the average of £1.069 and save your petrol.

That's liberism, Baby!

Low tax on income, lots of small taxes on goods. Guess who'll be more affected by this kind of taxation?

Yeah, we vote on the Government every five years, or so.

The theory - and I think it's correct - is that a government should have an integrated tax strategy, which includes different kinds of tax to raise the revenue it thinks it requires. Different mixes of taxes have different effects - on each other and on the behaviour of businesses and individuals. Letting people vote on individual elements in the mix - and people would vote their pockets, of course - risks generating all kinds of counter-productive behaviour that runs against what the government - with the people's consent - is trying to do.

That's the theory - it isn't quite as neat as that in practice.

organissimo Tour of Italy, 2009.

organissimo relocation to Italy, 2010.

If all goes to plan you guys will have a fan and a place to crash just outside of Tuscany. Of course the way the dollar is going its making it harder and harder.
