bertrand Posted August 4, 2005 Report Posted August 4, 2005 Lee Morgan also played bass with accordionist Leon Sash at Newport in the mid-50s. His first instrument was the vibes, though. Bertrand. Quote

Bertrand. ← This Lee Morgan was a "hefty" female and Leon's wife. I met her/them when I worked for Delmark in 1966/67. They ultimately made a deal with Koester for a record but it was issued after I left the label. I will always remember when Leon first called and I answered. The Atlantic "New Tristano" lp was playing in the background. Leon asked who was playing piano and I said Lennie Tristano. He said "I didn't know Lennie was in town". Quote
Spontooneous Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 "Lee Morgan deals in cardboard lovers..." Now THAT'S some great newspaper ritin'. Now if you'll 'scuse me, the cardboard GF and I are going beddy-bye. Quote
