7/4 Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 Sad, but true. RIP. I haven't seen the reruns in years. As for the cone of silence, I've been calling the hallway in my building, here on the 8th floor, that for years. Quote
catesta Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 (edited) Then I just heard on the Radio that Agent 99 died years ago. I totally missed that ! Nope--still alive at 73. Barbara Feldon "Dead or Alive Info" Page ← ← I'm glad she is still around. A fine looking lady. I would have never guessed she was 73. Edited September 26, 2005 by catesta Quote
JSngry Posted September 26, 2005 Report Posted September 26, 2005 With that picture, you never would. Quote

graaspiano Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Don Adams' daughter Cathy was my "suite" mate (We shared at bathroom between our two rooms) at the University of Redlands. When we would go out late at night to a coffee shop, she only had $100 bills and this was 1967! She was a very nice person and we had a lot of fun - I lost touch with her after college. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 I think Don used to post here under the name of Weizin. Quote

AllenLowe Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 anybody ever notice how much the Get Smart theme sounds like "Walkin'" ? Quote
Ron S Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Would you believe, "A Night In Tunisia"? Quote
AllenLowe Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 similar intervals, last part VERY close - somebody shoulda sued someboday - of course. this is typical TV - Odd Couple Theme sounds just like Bag's Groove - and Inspector Gadger theme is a direct ripoff of Topsy - Quote
JSngry Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Odd Couple Theme sounds just like Bag's Groove ← And New Mexico looks just like Colorado. Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Sounds like a song lyric.... "New Mexicooooooo looks just like Coloradooooo When we're driving through in our 60s Elderadooooooooo.... YEAH!" Thank you, I'll be here all night! Quote
JSngry Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 (edited) similar intervals, last part VERY close - somebody shoulda sued someboday - ← C to F to E to F vs F (to C to E to F) to B to C An E over a dominant C+ is the same as a B over an tonic F7? I'm tempted to say that you shoulda sued your theory teacher, but I respect you too much to do it! And it's that respect that's gonna let me give you a pass on that "last part" business. There's a rough similarity in rhtymic/melodic contour, but a rough similarity is all it is. Edited September 27, 2005 by JSngry Quote
JSngry Posted September 27, 2005 Report Posted September 27, 2005 Inspector Gadger theme is a direct ripoff of Topsy - ← If by "Topsy" you're using code for "In The Hall Of The Mountain King", then I'll agree with you! Quote
BruceH Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 similar intervals, last part VERY close - somebody shoulda sued someboday - ← C to F to E to F vs F (to C to E to F) to B to C An E over a dominant C+ is the same as a B over an tonic F7? ← Would you believe....? Man, I was startled to learn Don Adams was 82!! I always kind of assumed he was born in the 30's. I can remember seeing the opening to Get Smart when I was a little kid and thinking it was a serious drama. The opening made it seem so exciting and cool. Later I used to watch repeats obsessively. (I'm talking about the color episodes. I never even knew they had a black & white season until much later when some obscure local channel showed a few.) I had kind of a thing for Babara Feldon's Agent 99----as much a kid in elementary school can have a thing for anyone, that is. Quote
AllenLowe Posted October 21, 2005 Report Posted October 21, 2005 1) getting back to this late - the whole feel of the Get Smart theme, the way it phrases etc etc is a real ripoff of Walkin - don't have the music in front of me but listen to both and you know the Get Smart composer ripped it off - listen to the opening phrase of Get Smart and the end - it doesn't have to be note for note to be a steal - 2) Inspector Gadget is almost exactly Topsy - I got a call from Eddie Durham's daughter about 10 years ago on this and she was talking about suing but I don't think anything ever came of it - 3) and Bag's Groove/Odd Couple Theme are absurdly close - Neal Hefti shoulda sent Milt Jackson some money on this one - we're not talking theory but a theft of feeling and basic melodic material - Quote
