Jim Alfredson Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I just read this. I feel horrible for their 13-year old son. What a tragedy. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/O/OBI...EMPLATE=DEFAULT Quote
J.A.W. Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I had no idea she was sick. R.I.P. She was diagnosed with lung cancer a short while after Christopher died. Very sad news, she was way too young. Quote
Johnny E Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 (edited) Man that was fast! If anyone here still smokes, please consider your family and how fast it can take you away from them. I know from personal experience that it's not easy to quit, but you should at least start the process now before it's too late. ps. Yes I know that Dana Reeve never smoked, but I'd be willing to bet that she grew up in a house with someone who did. Edited March 7, 2006 by Johnny E Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I had a friend who had lung cancer as a teenager, and was able to pull through. Nobody in his family smoked, and apparently it can develop without airborne carcinogen exposure. I think it is fairly rare in this form. Sad news for the Reeve family, which has suffered so much trauma. The spotlight constantly shown on them was a bit much at times, and it's unfortunate that she was unable to continue her husband's legacy. Quote
kinuta Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 My brother in law was dead within six months of diagnosis. My wifes best friend's husband lasted about one year after diagnosis. Smoking really does kill. Quote
GregK Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 lung cancer is like any other cancer. you dont have to be a smoker to get it. It is rare, but it happens. Quote
