JSngry Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 As much as it sucks to see the Pistons lose, im sure being a Miami or Dallas fan for the last two decades has been alot worse. Not if it meant not having to live in De-"Watch It Die Before Your Eyes"-troit. We don't have that problem in Dallas, It's always been fucked up here. Quote
BruceW Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 I did not have Suns, Mavs or Heat so I am not going to even add up my scores. No way I win the pool or come in second or come in third. damn Good luck to you guys; Heat and Mavs MY TAKE; Mavs a better team but Shaq knows how to get it done and so does Coach Riley. Avery Johnson has been there as a player but not as a coach. Title goes to Heat. STILL wondering what will be the Piston shakeup and there will be one. Quote
Aggie87 Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 Doubts about Dallas's ability to play D should be put to rest after last night's 1st half. I'm picking the Mavs to win this series in 6.5 . Guy The Mavs were down 51-39 at the half. That suggests that they were playing defense? They had one good quarter defensively yesterday, the 3rd quarter, in which they held the Suns to 15 points. Otherwise their defense didn't look that great to me. Will be an interesting matchup vs. the Heat to be sure! Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Not sure what happened to the Pistons. I feel really bad for McDyess. He played his ass off this season. If the Heat win, it'll be nice for Mourning. He deserves a ring. Quote
Guy Berger Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 If the Heat win, it'll be nice for Mourning. He deserves a ring. One more reason for me to root against the Heat. I can't stand that guy. Guy Quote

If the Heat win, it'll be nice for Mourning. He deserves a ring. Good points, Jim. I felt the same way throughout the series. I felt bad for Zo and Tayshaun, who both played well; but I'm happy for Zo. He was terrific off the bench. Quote

BruceW Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Miami in 6 Agreed (even though your picks usually mean the opposite). Miami splits first two in Dallas, then takes 2 of 3 in Miami, then takes 6th in Dallas. There are no Dallas players with Finals experience other than the coach but the players have to do the job on the floor. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 8, 2006 Author Report Posted June 8, 2006 brucew u gotta admit .... my picks have been better this year... Quote
Guy Berger Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 From tradesports.com: Heat in 4: 3.2-4.2% Heat in 5: 13.0-14.4% Heat in 6: 11.0-12.5% Heat in 7: 9.0-11.9% Mavs in 7: 21.1-22.9% Mavs in 6: 22.0-23.8% Mavs in 5: 11.0-12.4% Mavs in 4: 6.9-7.0% Mavs win: 61.5-61.7% Heat win: 38.1-39.4% Quote
slide_advantage_redoux Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 I don't think the lack of finals experience by the Mavs players will be a factor, nor do I think that Avery having been there as a player but not a coach is a big factor. Avery has proven to be an excellent coach. Also the Mavs have the deepest bench. They have the ability to play small ball, tall ball, you name it. They can throw out all sorts of looks. They can run, and they can play half court. The one thing that concerns me is that I doubt they can stop Shaq. Dwayne Wade might can be contained. We''ll just have to wait and see. This squad has an enormous amount of poise and confidence - but not to the degree that they are arrogant or cocky. I just think they know they can do this if they play their style ball. That said, Mavs in 6. Quote
Noj Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 A good strategy for the Mavs might be to shut down everyone besides Shaq and Wade. Walker, Williams, Payton, Haslem, Posey...those guys killed Detroit. Mavs need Dirk and Howard to continue playing at that high level. This long rest before the Finals favors the Heat. I'm rooting Mavs, but...Heat in 6. Quote
Guy Berger Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 FWIW, a lot of this series comes down to Miami's role players. If Jason Williams, Udonis Haslem and Antoine Chucker play well consistently then they'll be in a great position to win. Guy Quote
JSngry Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Mavs in no more than 6, but it'll be a helluva lot more work than the local fans are expecting... Quote

Guy Berger Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Steve Kerr answers some letters: Steve, after all your wrong predictions regarding the Heat, what are you going to do after Miami beats Dallas in the Finals? Will you be considering a second retirement? It would be honorable. Or simply bash yourself daily until next season. Francisco Framil Miami Francisco – For the record, I've only made ONE wrong prediction so far for the Heat. I had them beating Chicago and New Jersey in the first two rounds. Yes, I was wrong on Detroit. But if I'm wrong again and Miami beats Dallas, I will strongly consider not only retirement but a solitary life consisting of self-humiliation and abuse. I would most likely let my body go, neglecting any exercise, eating nothing but Funyons and Trix, and growing a long, ratty beard. And that, I believe, would make you very happy. Quote
