Soulstation1 Posted July 4, 2006 Author Report Posted July 4, 2006 i hate to bring bad news to my DP fans big ben is gone http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2508742 Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 So the Bulls offer him $4million more for the same period of time (four years) and he turns his back on Detroit? I guess he must really not like Flip, because that seems crazy. Then again, business is business. Now the Darko trade is looking really bad. Quote
md655321 Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 The Chicago contract ended up being 60 million, which is about 10 mill more than the pistons offered. If we had Darko to start we would be amazing next year, as right now Darko is pretty close to a better player than Ben, especially with Bens offensive deficiencies. Oh well. We are going for Pryzbilla, he would be a nice pick up. But we are still screwed at the 2/3. Atleast we trded Mo Evans so Flip will be forced to play Delfino, who can be a very good player. Quote

I guess he must really not like Flip, because that seems crazy. Then again, business is business. Now the Darko trade is looking really bad. Well, we still don't know what is REALLY going on in Detroit, but the first signs are evident. I personally thought Ben was going to stay (with the problems worked out) but that is NOT the case. Whatever that problem was, Ben is having no more of it. Yeah, Detroit should have kept Darko in the first place and he is gone. There simply are no replacements at center for Detroit. It was suggested that Sheed play the 5, but that is not going to work. Sheed does not like being too near the basket all the time. That's just the way he is! I will tell you this, the problems did not start with Flip, they started with that crybaby who just got kicked out of New York, uh, what's his name, something Brown! Well, as they say, we have to get over it and get on with building again. It can be done. Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted July 6, 2006 Report Posted July 6, 2006 jim - you never should have posted that the heat stink! I still think the Pistons were a better team, but Flip got out-coached bigtime. Riley is a bad motherfoyer and could even take the current Knicks and get them to the playoffs. Also, the rule changes really hurt the Pistons defense and helped the kind of offense that Wade plays, which is great for the Heat. I don't think overall it's good for the league, but I'm not the commissioner, so what do I know? That's all in the past, though. I'm worried about this next season. I still can't believe Big Ben left for Chicago. The Pistons are in real trouble. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted July 6, 2006 Author Report Posted July 6, 2006 I wish the heat coulda signed Big Ben Miami could of set records for the worst FT % for a team Pistons have lost their defensive identity Quote

The Pistons are in real trouble. Picking up Nazr Mohammed as a replacement for Big Ben isn't an upgrade. Thanks for taking him off our hands down in San Antonio. He's certainly serviceable though. Just not very tough or particularly strong. If he built up some arm-strength and developed an attitude, he'd be alright. Quote

Just not very tough or particularly strong. If he built up some arm-strength and developed an attitude, he'd be alright. Guess what! The Pistons are smart enough to plan to do exactly that to Mohammed; work on strength and weights, AND kick his ass in every practice until he gets tough!! He will get his points. You do know there are specialists for hire who do exactly that. I do believe Joe D has made another great move we'll see, HOWEVER, Pistons also need to work on Sheed's attention span and mouth zipper. Quote
Big Al Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Wow indeed! Of course, I'm referring to Evan's new and VASTLY improved signature picture! VA-VA-VOOM!!! Quote
