danasgoodstuff Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 I'm playing at my alma mater, Reed College with my friends in Portland's longrunning 'noise band'...don't blame me I didn't name the band, we're on first at 8pm sharp for a short set and I can't guarantee you'll be able to hear me, I often can't hear myself, much less that I'll play anything interesting since I have no idea what we're playing, but still you won't hear a middle aged Studebaker driving kinda guy play C-melody in this context evryday, and I think it's open to the public, but I could be wrong since I've seen two different rooms at Redd listed on the web, think I better go practise my squeaks and squonks...and scales, just in case. danasgoodstuff Posted November 15, 2007 Author Report Posted November 15, 2007 Gig didn't happen due to some sort of internal meltdown in Smegma (now there's a lovely image!). Members I talked to expressed an interest in playing together in some informal future configuration. My career sabatoged by 'creative differences', does that make me a 'real musician' now? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 No. You won't be a real musician until you drive 800 miles to play a club for the door and make $20. Quote
AllenLowe Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 I'm waiting for the reunion concert - "Polly and The Puss Suckers Reunited" Quote
AllenLowe Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 actually, real musicians don't get gigs - at least that's what I keep telling myself - Quote
JSngry Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 No. You won't be a real musician until you drive 800 miles to play a club for the door and make $20. And getting a $120 speeding ticket on the way home. Quote
jazzbo Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 And just as you start packing up you notice someone had barfed on your floor tom. Quote
