BillF
For that price it would have to include the Buddy Bolden cylinder.
porcy62
I bet you could get it for less, cash in hand. Now, if I were in U.S. I'd quit for a couple of years my actual job and I'd start a new one.
Christiern
Those photos remind me of what my apartment used to look like before I sold 18,000 LPs. I still have a couple of thousand 45s, but they are neatly stored out of sight.
WD45
Do these massive lot sales every get purchased on eBay?
Dan Gould
Do these massive lot sales every get purchased on eBay? That's what I've always wondered. Someone starts a thread about some ridiculously high-priced "turn key" record business but I never follow up to see how they turn out. My guess is they don't - I don't think a lot of the normal-size record lots sell, but finding someone with $80,000 to spend, and in such a short period of time, seems unlikely. Kinda surprised that he didn't use the "Make me an offer" option.

DukeCity
Of the 150,000 records, "only" 20-30,000 of them are LP's. More than half are 45s, and another 30K are 78s. I know the market for 78s isn't all that great. Is the market for 45s any better? I'd like to see: "Here's a real treat – my "Odd-itorium" photo gallery, featuring strange, unusual, unique, "awful" and very cool records and record covers, sorted into more than 60 categories! Includes many great jazz LPs and wonderfully odd Christian LPs. So far there are about 2300 LPs posted on the site. As far as I know, this site features the largest and most diverse collection of this genre anywhere! This is an increasingly-popular genre. Just do some searching on the Internet and you'll see! Included in this sale are the records and the gallery itself. Please contact me through the link below for further details."
Teasing the Korean
If the collection is as great as the guy claims, $80K would be a great price, especially if you live nearby.

catesta
At the very least, the guy should have taken the time to list each record by title and personnel.

vajerzy
What a nightmare that is.....when I last moved- friends didn't bitch about the furniture they had to lift- it was the boxes of LPs I had.
Tjazz
I can't see this selling for more than $15K.
clifford_thornton
I'd be surprised if one couldn't make a great profit on $80K, though. But that would take a serious investment in time as well. I'd take his 2,000 jazz LPs for $2 a disc and do some work with that...
Debra
A friend of mine tried to sell 10,000 jazz CDs on ebay, by twenty five per week. He developed several loyal buyers, one of whom finally contacted him and offered him $45,000 for remainder of the entire collection. So there are some people with the cash to buy these large collections.

WD45
The owner of the now-defunct record store I worked at once remarked when asked by a stock broker customer about his investments, "the only stocks I buy are 12" vinyl." :rsmile:

Especially when you think how low the dollar is against the £...you know he would actually have to pay us to take it off of him ....and bring it over the pond ! Brownian Motion
25,000 to 30,000 78s, many of them shellac, would weigh as much as a cement-mixer, and take weeks to pack securely enough to transport. And then you'd have to figure out what to do with them.
