jazzkrow Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Dem Bastards at Dusty Groove have two intriguing reissues-John Patton's "Soul Connection" (with Grachan Moncur)- and Alvin Queen's "Jammin Uptown" (from mid 80's) Any comments out there about the quality of these sessions? Both sound intriguing especially the Patton as I've never heard about that title before. May have been issued under both Moncur and Patton's names per AMG... Worth picking up? THANKS! Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Glad to see these are out now. Are they actually on DustyGroove's own label? MG Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Glad to see these are out now. Are they actually on DustyGroove's own label? MG Nope, its Justin Time. $12.99 is definitely a nice price. Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 BTW, if you try to order through Da Bastids "John Patton" is the search term to use. "Big John Patton" will bring up a different set of recordings, but not this one. Quote

captainwrong Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 seems like emusic has both of these Oh hell yeah. (After losing a crate of records, and exactly one CD, in a flood last week, I'm becoming gunshy about purchasing physical media again...at least for a little while. ) Quote
randyhersom Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 So the Alvin Queen seems to have Terrence Blanchard, Robin Eubanks Ray Drummond, Manny Boyd and John Hicks. I might put that in my Save for Later. Quote
Stefan Wood Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 The Alvin Queen is a real nice session. Don't sleep on it...... Quote
