Alexander Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Godfather Link anyone see the remastered films? i am gonna do the double feature for $12 I LOVE these movies. Haven't seen the remastered films. I hope they come to a theater in my area! Quote
T.D. Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Haven't seen the remastered films. God knows I've seen the original releases enough times! If the remasters come around here, and prove to add significant footage, I'm in... Quote
porcy62 Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 I'll pass. No, you will not. This is an offer you can't refuse. http://it.youtube.com/watch?v=Ch8uCOPbH7I&...feature=related Quote
jazzbo Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 Ah, despite a few good lines I really don't like these movies very much. Mafia stuff just doesn't do anything for me. Skipped the Sopranos too. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Does anyone remember when Marlon Brando won the Oscar for the Godfather? Quote
Alexander Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Ah, despite a few good lines I really don't like these movies very much. Mafia stuff just doesn't do anything for me. Skipped the Sopranos too. I skipped the Sopranos as well, but to me the Godfather films are about a lot more than just the Mafia. Consider the time period during which the first film opens: Michael has returned from the war and is attending his sister Connie's wedding. Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo have been defeated, but in many ways the fascisim they represented continues in Don Vito Corleone's office. Of course, Don Vito looks like a big softie compared to what Michael represents once he takes over... It's a film about innocence and the fall from innocence. It's about the ways in which a good man, desiring to do good and protect his family, can still do evil. Saying "The Godfather" films are about the Mafia is like saying that "Moby Dick" is about fishing or "Lolita" is about relationships. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Okay it's about more than the Mafia. But it's not something I've ever enjoyed watching, sorry. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted January 30, 2009 Author Report Posted January 30, 2009 i saw the GF 1 today!!!!! anyone pick the GF series on blu-ray? Quote
T.D. Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Are these new versions just "remasters," or are they "director's cuts" with previously unreleased footage? Although photography/cinematography are big reasons why I love the films, I'll pass on spending money unless there's new footage... Quote
Aggie87 Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 I believe they're the same films as before, but with (supposedly) significantly improved images. Quote
T.D. Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Thanks! "I'm from Missouri" regarding the supposedly improved images, until I read credible reviews verifying the improvement. Quote
