The Magnificent Goldberg Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 I, too, would like to know. I note that is says "approximate address". Must be what Mosaic are using for shipping their parcels nowadays MG Quote
Christiern Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 It doesn't look familiar to me, but it could be the place. Could it have undergone a failed facelift? I'll run it past Ira and see what he says. Quote
Christiern Posted May 28, 2010 Report Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) Ran it past Ira Gitler—here's the pertinent part of his response: "Chris--I may have been there once but I don't really remember it. I went to Bob's house when the Babe Ruth League baseball team (the next step for kids after Little League) that we were co-coaching had a game scheduled, but my recollections about being at the office are wispy at best." Here's a clearer photo, in case someone else can chime in... Edited May 28, 2010 by Christiern Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 29, 2010 Author Report Posted May 29, 2010 to me, it does kinda look like a little Prestige-ey, i also like how now instead of making phenomenal soul-jazz records they now make delicous marzipan chocolate treats. lately ive been typing in addresses to see old bldgs of music-related interest, etc- glad u guys liked seeing it Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 I'm pretty sure that my copy of Choco-motive doesn't have marzipan. Quote
AndrewHill Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Anyone want to type in 767 Lexington Avenue? Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 29, 2010 Author Report Posted May 29, 2010 that isnt as interesting, its just a giant old office bldg with like a burger king in front or something Quote
Christiern Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 I should add that I did not pay much attention to the exterior, but I remember well what it house and, in that respect, the photo is consistent with my recollection. I can still see old "Pop" Weinstock at the floor-standing drill, adding an extra hole to discs that for some reason were not to be sold at full price. He kept busy, as I recall. Quote
JSngry Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Anyone want to type in 767 Lexington Avenue? I have a <100K shot ready to upload, but I keep getting this: Upload Skipped (Error406) Please advise? Quote
JSngry Posted May 29, 2010 Report Posted May 29, 2010 Yeah, that's the same shot I had, only mine was pulled over to the left so you could see the truck with the graffiti all over it & a full-frontal of the "767". Seeing all those window ACs is a real hoot for somebody who lives in a part of the country where central air became standardized about 40-50 years ago. Quote
flat5 Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 That was quick :-) (if in response to my post) What floor(s) were Blue Note on? Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Don't know the floor but I recall very recently Brownie mentioned going to the office - I assume this one - and saying that it was one divided room or a two-room office. Definitely not occupying a floor let alone more than one. How's that for an even quicker response? Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 30, 2010 Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 yea-- and then while he was there, roy haynes was there demanding they give him a free copy of song for my father, lol-- wait brownie must of been at the W> 61st one...right? Quote
flat5 Posted May 30, 2010 Report Posted May 30, 2010 Yes, two minutes quicker but what impressed me was you found a Blue Note icon, uploaded it and wrote the post in 4 minutes. Yea You :-) Quote
