GA Russell Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Mine arrived today delivered by UPS. I thought that Amazon did all of its shipping with the USPS. Quote
Free For All Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I thought that Amazon did all of its shipping with the USPS. Really? My Amazon deliveries (and there are a lot of them) are almost always UPS. The items I order from private sellers often come via USPS, however. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 I did the math and opted for "prime" a couple of years ago, did the math and have not looked back. Most of my stuff comes UPS. Quote
GA Russell Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 I got the free Super Saver Shipping, but it arrived two-day UPS. Quote
GA Russell Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 I've seen the first ten episodes so far, and enjoyed every one. Thanks TTK, et al! Quote
medjuck Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 I've watched them all over the past couple of months. The combo of Red Mitchell, Red Norvo Shelly Mann, Barney Kessell and Pete Candoli and Johnny (Star Wars) Williams is only in the first episode. The 2nd has Candoli, Williams,Mitchell Bob Bain and Mel Lewis. After that it's usually actors pretending to play instruments, though Fred Katz and Paul Horn show up in one of the later episodes. (BTW on the record release, Norvo is replaced by Larry Bunker.) The show is really interesting. It seems to have changed it's name from Staccato to Johnny Staccato about half way through the season. The end credits say it was shot in Hollywood but every episode has at least one scene showing Cassavetes walking through the streets of Manhattan doing something specific to that episode. Some of episodes are generic and pretty bad but many are very good. One excellent one directed by Cassavetes, has a very film noir look, and stars Elisha Cook Jr. and a glamorous Cloris Leachman L Quote
GA Russell Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 The other night I watched the Ann Henry episode. Does anyone know anything about her? I find it a bit odd that a black female singer whom I've never heard of had enough pull to land a singing-but-not-acting gig on a network TV show. Maybe she was a friend of John Cassavetes. All I could find of her was that she had bit parts here and in The Beverly Hillbillies. http://www.tv.com/people/ann-henry/ Quote
Head Man Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) Funnily, I was watching the third or fourth episode last night. The one with Dean Stockwell threatening to jump off a roof. I'm not sure I'll be watching all the episodes however, I find it rather repetitive. Perhaps you need to have been a fan when it was first shown on TV. Edited October 10, 2011 by Head Man Quote
Pete C Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 I saw the whole series when the now-defunct Trio network ran it in their "Brilliant But Canceled" series. Quote
BFrank Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 It's repetitive, but fun to watch as a genre/period piece. Quote
GA Russell Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 It's repetitive, but fun to watch as a genre/period piece. The thing of it is, that's my "period"! I can relate to it much more than what's on TV today. Quote
GA Russell Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 My third DVD plays the fifth episode only half-way though. Does anyone else have this problem? It's a pretty stupid story about a ventroloquist, and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Quote
JSngry Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 At least not until you start hearing voices coming out of that box in the corner... Quote
