Dave James Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 First of all, as many prior posts will reflect, I am an unabashed fan of Victor Feldman, especially as a pianist. I knew he was a child prodigy, but I don't think I'd ever seen any video. Thanks for posting this. A couple of observations. First, that's about the strangest trap set-up I think I've ever seen. Must've been adjusted to accommodate his size. Also, you gotta love the swinging accordion guy...a regular Myron Floren. Quote
GA Russell Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Vic Feldman is one of those guys whom I've never heard on a bad record. As far as I'm concerned, he made all the difference on the Shelly Manne at the Black Hawk discs. Quote
sidewinder Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Looks suspiciously like the Mermaid Theatre in Soho ! Quote
Dave James Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 As far as I'm concerned, he made all the difference on the Shelly Manne at the Black Hawk discs. Couldn't agree more. IMO, he took that group to a whole different level. Not to sell any of the other guys in that fantastic band short, or regular pianist Russ Freeman, but there's a reason Manne called in the mobile recording crew from Riverside. His name was Victor Feldman. Quote
medjuck Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Wow. Got to try to find a way for my father-in-law to see this. He always talks about going to hear Feldman when he (Feldman) was a child. (I on the other hand lived a couple of blocks from a club where Feldman used to play late in his life and I foolishly never went.) Quote
mikeweil Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 There was a short sample of the Feldman boy on one of his CDs - much in the vein of that video. He had lots of talent. Quote
mikeweil Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) I think it was this one: Edited July 26, 2011 by mikeweil Quote
sidewinder Posted July 27, 2011 Report Posted July 27, 2011 I think it was this one: Yes - right at the end of 'Haunted Ballroom Part 2'. Quote
