chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 there were only two on popsike but they were both over 300 dollars. i got mine for .99 cents today, is this seriously -that- rare? i know we're not talking 1500 series here, people! Quote
Leeway Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Nice find there! Great price too. Discogs only lists a 45pm single and a 78rpm 10" under that title. I've never seen the album, in my own scouting about. Quote
brownie Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Great find indeed. Never saw that LP before. Was it worth all of the 99 cents? Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 (edited) At that kind of money this would have been a great find even in G- condition even if only for the cover. BTW, just for the record, this LP is listed (correctly, it seems to me) in the Bruyninckx discogrpahy, and the full contents of that United LP were reissued in 1978 here (Delmark DL 435. Yeah, sure some nondescript 70s cover): And just to hint at the relative rarity of this United LP, the liner notes on that Delmark reissue state that 3 of the tracks were "previously issued only on the very rare United LP 002". Which is confirmed by the Bruyninckx listing. Edited January 8, 2012 by Big Beat Steve Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 I suggest you contact Delmark - they own the rights. They may not know of that 12". They might want a scan of the cover. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 But according to the back cover liner notes they seem to be aware of the existence of that United LP as they do mention it (see above). So ... ? And if Popsike has listed it before too (as Chewy said) ... Quote
JSngry Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Savoy released that album that had a bunch of United material on it. Does Delmark own that now, too? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Savoy released that album that had a bunch of United material on it. Does Delmark own that now, too? Savoy bought an Ammons session and maybe a Leo Parker - not at home to check. All the rest is owned by Delmark. You should check out their catalog. Quote

In 2012? You bastard. If I had found that LP, it would have been by Helen Forrest. Seriously, it's not even listed in my old LP price guides. Quote
paul secor Posted January 9, 2012 Report Posted January 9, 2012 Dusty Groove evidently had a copy of this in stock at one time: http://www.dustygroove.com/item.php?id=8bz8yvptqh Quote

Savoy also bought a great wodge of gospel stuff from States - possibly all of the Caravans' material. That's now owned by Malaco. MG Quote
