They may be the most complete team left in the playoffs. They are strong and hard working from goalie on out. The tide started to turn a couple of years ago when Torts convinced Sather to go young and homegrown. In Staal, Girardi, McDonagh and Del Zotto, I think they have the best "top 4" defensive core in the league. Having been nominated for both the Hart and the Vezina, Lundquist is obviously solid. They may not have the brightest offensive stars in the league, but when you've got a group as defensively responsible as they are, that obviously makes up for those deficiencies.

Despite their youth, they are a grounded and well-coached group that should be good as least for the next few years.

It's finally a good time to be a Ranger fan. This, and the fact that the Islanders are already 29 years (and well on their way to surpassing the Rangers' 54 years) into their Cup drought, makes me an absolutely giddy New York hockey fan.

Just two wins away from a NY NJ series to decide who wins the Stanley Cup.

If you didn't find it necessary to waste your time with the "ignore" feature on an internet discussion forum, you would have noticed that I already mentioned the presence of two very good remaining west coast teams who might argue with east coast tri-state area dominance. However, before you make a fool of yourself by laughing so riotously, I would wait and see how everything plays out. Just some friendly advice. Sports predictions have a way of jumping up and biting one on the ass!

Maybe if you had inserted one of those goofy smilies, I would have gotten it.

Don't mess with my Rangers though. This is the only sport where I REALLY care if my team wins a title.

Petulance does rule on this board sometimes, and he does have me on ignore.

The Rangers game combined with the Mets 9th inning vs. the Phillies must have made for a memorable Monday night for NYC sports fans.

Flyers going down tonight it appears. Oh well this was a rebuilding year and once Pronger went down that was pretty much it.

Rebuilding year?

How many years is the goalie signed for? Rebuilding won't happen until they realize their mistake!

1975.......................and counting.

Yeah that contract is gonna kill us. But he hasn't been all that bad. A lot of his problems have been the result of the D in front of him. They have a bunch of good young players that show a good deal of promise, which despite Bryz's contract, give the fans some reason to hope for the future.

Smart money says they exceed the Rangers' 54 years between cups.

I'm shocked by (but not at all unhappy about :smirk: ) how badly the Flyers got outplayed. Before the series, I thought they'd win in five, with a chance at a sweep.

Is it just me, or does Jagr have absolutely nothing left? I can't recall him doing anything in the series. I remember when (long ago) he was the best player in the league...

He just came back to the NHL after a couple of years off playing in Russia. Quite the opposite reaction for me. I'm surprised he did as well as he did during the regular season this year!

Really?

Totally uninspired hockey from the NYR. They haven't dominated any of their 13 games yet. Even if they win game 7, they're going to need to play much more disciplined hockey to keep pace with Los Diablos.

It's apparent they need another scorer and someone, anyone who can win faceoffs on a consistent basis. I'm pretty convinced Richards isn't that guy, which further convinces me that they overpaid him because the free agent class last year was just not that good.
