chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted August 5, 2012 Author Report Share Posted August 5, 2012 he mentoins "hissy vinyl" yes. i have some albums, some very very clean copies....but VERY "hissy vinyl". what is this, and what causes this, is it something in the manuf. process or parts.he also says: Recycled vinyl that hisses. One of the Prestige’s fatal economies in the early Sixties, recycled vinyl contained fragments of previous labels and micro-detritus, that results in an audible hiss throughout replay. All early Sixties Prestige, New Jazz especially, need to be checked for hissy vinyl and some releases are available only with hiss. The hiss is not trivial, it is quite obtrusive.
