It takes place in 1933, thus completing TP's cycle of a novel for every decade of the 20th Century. This one involves the disappearance of a cheese heiress, with a Private Eye hot on the trail. It seems she ran off with a big band clarinetist. to Germany. Was it of her own accord? We'll soon find out... Quote

GA Russell Posted Monday at 08:38 PM Report Posted Monday at 08:38 PM Finally finished it. I was really looking forward to it, but I can't recommend it. For me it was too much "Then he did this, and then he did that." That said, I learned a few things about both the Lost Quintet and Circle. Quote

Ken Dryden Posted Tuesday at 05:59 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:59 PM I made the mistake of leaving this book in the living room shortly after it arrived. Now my wife is reading it and I can't get it back from her until she's through reading it. It's a fun read. Quote

As a devoted le Carre reader and Smiley fan of many years, it was a poor imitation of the books. Best to leave it with the creator. Quote
