I first heard of her when I bought biographical novel called "Waiting For Robert Capa". I'd bought it because I liked he title and the cover photo.  It's pretty good. (I've also read a pretty bad "Young Adult" book called  "One Last Shot" which is sort of a poem. ) 

Gerda died in the arms of Ted Allen a man I've met but before I'd ever heard of Gerda so I never asked  him about her.  A friend of mine who'd made a film about Ted  told me she was the love of his life.

She was unfortunately run over by a tank.
