What Christmas music are you playing?

My son gave me this one today. I like CeeLo as a contemporary musical entertainer, and he's definitely got his business together. It made for a fun listen or two this morning while waiting for the food to get ready.

Nor this one, which I was unaware had become a holiday standard for my kids' generation. Donny Hathaway! My kids' generation! GOOD choice! More of those, please!

I don't know that CeeLo is an "artist", but he is a damned skilled musical entertainer.

I really don't give a damn about The Voice, though, but hey, business be business.

Bette Midler - Cool Yule (Columbia). This is a very well done Christmas CD. Midler's voice is in in great form & the backing musicians, from a string orchestra to a big band, are all very good. As I listen to this, I find myself wondering why it never really got the playtime that a lot of other Christmas CDs made back then (2006) did. Maybe because she was already in her early 60s by then and radio wanted youngsters?

I am still shaking my head after reading that she turned 80 this year. I had no idea she was 80.

Paolo Fresu - Jazzy Christmas (Tǔk Music). I love that Paolo used a bandoneon player, Daniele Di Bonaventura on this date. It gives it an Italian flavor that I just can't explain.
