kenny weir
I haven't been able to get on to Jazz Corner's Speakeasy/BB for a couple of hours. Anyone else having problems in that regard?
brownie
Just checked. They're down for maintenance.
Muskrat Ramble
Wouldn't know. I go to All About Jazz and their forum. Recommended.
undergroundagent
I don't thnk the discussions at AAJ even compare to the ones generated here. After the BNBB closed, I frequented AAJ daily, but I now find this board to be much more informative. When I look at AAJ, I see a lot of people just starting with jazz. At Organissimo, however, many of the board members have been listening to jazz for a very long time. Thus, I almost never pop over there anymore. vibes
Look's like JC's back up. From the looks of it, it was available a few hours ago for some people, but I was not able to access it until just a few minutes ago.

I ask for info about Jazz Corner and I get a smug put down of AAJ, which I also frequent. Given that board's title it's inevitable there will be a constant influx of newbies, but there are many other discussions there that have a different perspetive and feel to here and JC. I like and participate in all three, and the Australian equivalent. I wonder why people sometimes feel they have to profess undying loyalty to one board or the other (apart from the issue of time constraints). It's the internet - it's not a competition. couw
you are very right Kenny and if I had the time and the wits, I would certainly check out all three on a regular basis. OrgBB has become my home and I rarely venture outside. My wife always tells me to spend more time outside, and my wife is always right. Jazzmoose
I think people who buy smooth peanut butter instead of crunchy are ignorant, pathetic wretches. But then they probably think the same about me, so who cares?
chris olivarez
This board is my home but if other boards work for other people then that's ok. As for you Jazzmoose.

Muskrat Ramble
When I look at AAJ, I see a lot of people just starting with jazz. At Organissimo, however, many of the board members have been listening to jazz for a very long time. That doesn't strike me as a particularly accurate characterization. Many of the posters there have been playing or listening to jazz for decades. Still, that board does, fortunately, attract new members, which is a good thing for jazz. Instead of just talking about the same old BN reissues again and again, those people are in for a whole new world of discovery. Plus, more than a few of the posters there are really into contemporary and European jazz, which you hear relatively little about on some other forums. undergroundagent
I certainly wasn't trying to put down AAJ. Rather, I was giving my reasons for preferring this board. It's just one man's opinion. If some of you enjoy that site, all the power to you.
agenbite
I'm really jonesin' for JC! Still down on my computer. It's nice to see many of the same JC posters here at this site. I've only been here once, to gawk at Deep's posts (succumbed to a prurient impulse). agenbite (aka stonemonkts)
catesta
you are very right Kenny and if I had the time and the wits, I would certainly check out all three on a regular basis. OrgBB has become my home and I rarely venture outside. My wife always tells me to spend more time outside, and my wife is always right. Sounds like it's tough to maintain a decent post count if one posts at too many places.
couw
quit following me around posting sly remarks just for post count's sake!
chuckyd4
Hey stone- I've noticed that if I use netscape (you can download it for free), it has no problems getting into JC's Speakeasy. I imagine someone should e-mail Lois to let her know that some of us are still having problems...
agenbite
Thanks, Chucky. I've got to believe there are tons more IE users like me so they should be aware of the problem. Are the boards active? I would download Netscape but I fear gunking up my registry (relatively new pc). I'll wait it out. I must say that the DEEP thread has been a source of amusement today. It is fascinating to see JC posters here who project a completely different persona. stonemonkts Edited February 3, 2004 by agenbite

mikeweil
I bet this would never stop even if the post count was invisible on all parts of the board!
mikeweil
But, really, the best way to increase the post count while not polluting the board with silly remarks is to post and to remove it later: ever noticed the deleted posts are not deducted? May that reduce the fear to delete silly posts.
catesta
You hear that couw? Start deleting sucka!
