GA Russell Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 This is a newly released album from an April 20, 1975, Los Angeles club gig. $7.00 download. http://artpepper.bandcamp.com/album/art-n-warne Quote
ejp626 Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 If I am understanding this correctly, it is over 2 hours of music for $7. I'm kind of intrigued by a 20+ minute version of Chameleon. Still thinking it over, but I'll probably buy the download. Thanks for the link. Quote

Joe Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 Not a repertoire I typically associate with Warne Marsh... intriguing... Quote
CraigP Posted May 24, 2013 Report Posted May 24, 2013 Thanks...I'll probably have to pop for this. Quote

Claude Schlouch Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 Hi folks,Yesterday morning, I bought the available tracks. 2 hours and 13 minutes for $ 7, it’s really a gift from Laurie. Some years ago (about 15), Miss Kaye told me that she had the tapes but had to find them, and since nothing…Now we can hear again, always with the same pleasure, 2 giants playing together. Thanks Laurie. Give us more jewels from time to time! Quote
John Litweiler Posted May 25, 2013 Report Posted May 25, 2013 I listened to the first hour. First impression: lots of pre-Trane-influenced Pepper and Art seems to be the one encouraging sax duets. Marsh less prominent and there's one good Buddy Collette clarinet solo in a pre-bop style. Not well-recorded, a certain amount of jam-session chaos, unwelcome fade-ins and fade-outs, equal time to piano, guitar, and electric bass solos. There's a whole lot of pleasure here. Quote
JSngry Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 Am I reading the site right, that if you want to pay more than $7.00, you can? Quote
John Litweiler Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 Yes, and I paid more than $7. Still the best bargain of the year so far. Beautiful melodic improvising by all three saxophonists. Quote
