100 Rejected North Carolina License Plates

I guess some people try to test the system, and see how far they can go when applying for a new tag. Here's a list of 100 which were turned down.

In the early '80s, after the national speed limit had been imposed, I was driving south on the interstate running from York, PA, down to Baltimore. I was quickly passed by a white Volkswagen Beetle with a Maryland tag which said F55MPH.

I think states should let people put whatever stupidity they wish on their plates, except those that an imply a false official status, I'd rather know what idiots I'm dealing with.

They do, but they can charge more, usually $50-$60 for "personalized" plates, at the request of the motorist. Otherwise you get letter-number combos. Just a lot of weird folks in NC Just kidding--all 50 states have this issue.

I actually had an application filled out but never submitted for BLUNOTE in NH. I see where it's still available.

I saw your car a couple of weeks ago in Waltham while commuting home.  I got curious and googled "BEBOP1, license plate" and found this post.  I commute for a stretch on 117 and amuse myself by making lists of vanity plates that I spot along the way.

Yesterday I saw an NC plate:  LA D DA
