GA Russell Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 I guess some people try to test the system, and see how far they can go when applying for a new tag. Here's a list of 100 which were turned down. http://www.wral.com/news/local/image_gallery/13455295/ Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 Remember seeing a large BMW in Boston with a plate reading PU5SY. Quote
GA Russell Posted March 9, 2014 Author Report Posted March 9, 2014 In the early '80s, after the national speed limit had been imposed, I was driving south on the interstate running from York, PA, down to Baltimore. I was quickly passed by a white Volkswagen Beetle with a Maryland tag which said F55MPH. Quote
danasgoodstuff Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 I think states should let people put whatever stupidity they wish on their plates, except those that an imply a false official status, I'd rather know what idiots I'm dealing with. Quote
erwbol Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 Why don't States simply issue people boring combinations of letters and digits like XT-65-OA? Quote
Leeway Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) Why don't States simply issue people boring combinations of letters and digits like XT-65-OA? They do, but they can charge more, usually $50-$60 for "personalized" plates, at the request of the motorist. Otherwise you get letter-number combos. Just a lot of weird folks in NC Just kidding--all 50 states have this issue. Edited March 9, 2014 by Leeway Quote
erwbol Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 So are there any members with a personalised license plate? Could Lon's be BluSpec2? Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 (edited) I actually had an application filled out but never submitted for BLUNOTE in NH. I see where it's still available. Edited March 10, 2014 by Kevin Bresnahan Quote

I got curious and googled "BEBOP1, license plate" and found this post. I commute for a stretch on 117 and amuse myself by making lists of vanity plates that I spot along the way. Quote
