duaneiac Posted February 26, 2020 Report Posted February 26, 2020 This is an album I have seen a few times in used record stores, but never in a decent enough condition to buy. It's cool to finally give it a listen. Sammy Nestico's charts all awing nicely Quote
jazzbo Posted February 26, 2020 Report Posted February 26, 2020 Sun Ra "Continuation" Disc 2, unreleased material from the recording sessions of the (whacky) original Saturn LP. Sound on these new officially released Ra sessions is really good. Quote
HutchFan Posted February 26, 2020 Report Posted February 26, 2020 An interesting grab-bag of tracks from the stockpile. Quote

EKE BBB Posted February 27, 2020 Report Posted February 27, 2020 The sides with JPJ are incredible, specially that "Sweet Mistreater"... and what about "Empty Bed Blues" with Charlie Green on trombone? Quote

Coda Posted February 27, 2020 Report Posted February 27, 2020 David Ayers commented on this recording in the What music did you buy today thread. I have to agree with his assessment, this is truly one of the best pop albums I've heard in years. https://www.moomin.com/en/blog/the-star-studded-lineup-for-the-moominvalley-tv-series-soundtrack-finally-revealed-tom-odell-mo-first-aid-kit-and-alma-featured/#ee6066fa Quote

HutchFan Posted February 27, 2020 Report Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) Last night and again this morning: Stanley Turrentine - Let It Go (Impulse/GRP, 1966) Continuing with my Stanley Turrentine / Shirley Scott listening-a-thon today. I've decided that my favorites from the duo (so far) are this one -- Let It Go -- and Scott's Legends of Acid Jazz disc that compiles Hip Twist and Hip Soul. But tomorrow is payday, and I'm planning to order a few more. Edited February 27, 2020 by HutchFan Quote
