Peter Friedman Posted July 1, 2020 Report Posted July 1, 2020 Not only is the music very good, but there is a nice bonus of a terrific David Stone Martin cover. Quote

No latin percussion by Toots Thielemans or Johnny Rae - Rae plays timbales on the two tracks where Armando Peraza joins them. Drummers are not always listed correctly, considering Shearing's tour personnel. Thanks for the Information and the link Quote

jazzbo Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) Right now I'm listening to the SF Jazz Collective set I have that I return to the most, the "Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Original Compositions" . . . . This second disc is pretty spectacular. Great compositions, arrangements, obviously well-rehearsed and exquisitely performed. The sound is so good too--it whispers and roars and never becomes strident or compressed. The energy flows right out to the listener. Edited July 2, 2020 by jazzbo Quote
jazzbo Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 On to the lovely Monday Michiru, "4 Seasons" disc 1 Quote
Justin V Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 I have been making my way through the box and making sure that all of the discs have ripped and play okay. This series is such a treasure trove, with Ray Nance getting a lot of solo time on this volume. It is fun listening to the contrast between the tracks that have Nance as the only brass instrument and those with the full (in size and sound) brass section.  Quote
Bluesnik Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 A terrific Clifford Jordan date. With Art Farmer, Sonny Clark, George Tucker and Louis Hayes. Quote
