duaneiac Posted November 1, 2020 Report Posted November 1, 2020 I know she is not a jazz singer, but one of the photos included in this CD's booklet is of her with Django and Stephane (and Bricktop) back in the 1930's, so IÂ figured she would certainly be more at home here than in the rock music thread. Justin V Posted November 1, 2020 Report Posted November 1, 2020 His name was totally unfamiliar to me. I wanted to check him out and saw this whole album available for streaming on Amazon Prime. I almost never use Prime for streaming, due to the albums often being incomplete and having ample options in my own collection. Quote
Justin V Posted November 1, 2020 Report Posted November 1, 2020 Such a great cover to match a great album. Quote

Justin V Posted November 1, 2020 Report Posted November 1, 2020 (edited) I added this to my collection this week to join the second volume. Although the piano/recording quality is pretty wonky on the first session, it is a hoot and well worth acquiring. 'Night in Tunisia' is wild! Bluesnik Posted November 2, 2020 Report Posted November 2, 2020 With the great frontline of Mitchell and Junior Cook. It's a bit on the souljazzy side, but there's also the outstanding Perception, by Mitchell and Chick Corea, who's the pianist here. 49 minutes ago, Tom 1960 said: Is that one of his early works? I saw him with the recently departed Harold Mabern a few years ago. Quote
