Dub Modal Posted July 2, 2021 Report Posted July 2, 2021 Pharoah Sanders' Message From Home. Mid-90s Laswell production that is really nice to listen to. If only I'd come across this stuff back when it was new, I probably would've been bitten by the jazz bug a whole lot earlier... After that; disc one of the 3 CD set: Quote
jazzbo Posted July 2, 2021 Report Posted July 2, 2021 Charlie Haden with Joe Henderson and Al Foster, "Montreal Tapes" Verve cd Love Joe in a trio format. Followed by something very different. My copy was virtually a freebie - one of those ‘BMG Club’ issues that they used to do in North America back in the 90s to welcome punters into the fold. I think it was 5 CDs for $10 Cdn or something crazy. Good selections on offer too. Edited July 2, 2021 by sidewinder Quote

Back when they had so much inventory they basically had to give it away via clubs and cutouts. Quote

I recall at the time this deal was North America only and not available in Europe. Twas always thus.. Quote
Referentzhunter Posted July 2, 2021 Report Posted July 2, 2021 (edited) Stan Getz & Dexter Gordon thriftstore-find, ... good-sounding despite being a low-budget Dutch classical label. They do use original digital masters most of the time ! Edited July 2, 2021 by Referentzhunter Quote

I'm enjoying it a bit. . . but Fiona the dachshund just left the room! Edited July 2, 2021 by jazzbo Quote

JSngry Posted July 2, 2021 Author Report Posted July 2, 2021 It takes a brave man to openly use a dog as an accompanist, but it takes an even braver dog to do the work needed to reach the necessary level of skill to not just get the gig, but to then keep the gig. Ultimately, there is no substitute for just doing the work. That Fiona dachshund could maybe take a lesson in character and perseverence from Micczyslaw Horszowski! Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted July 2, 2021 Report Posted July 2, 2021 Now playing an album by a certain Organissimo member. I don't want to out him, if he chooses to fly under the radar, but I will say that it is excellent. Quote
