Don't have the live CD but have seen videos of them online. Love Lazuli though. :tup

Do I really need another Bill Evans Trio release?

I do think that there's been some recent gems from his later trios via Resonance and Elemental and maybe some others. Unfortunately, as one combs through discogs there's so many gray marketed CDs and otherwise bootlegged albums which really clog things up and that's a shame.

Disc 2 which is mostly Smokin' At the Half Note with Wynton Kelly's trio.

Took me some time to find this one--and even got ripped off by one seller first. But it's wborth it--all airchecks, from The Chatterbox and the Savoy Ballroom.

The new Strut 2CD version. Sounds pretty good to me.

Earlier on I had this playing with the TV on silent with one of the German Olympic dressage horses doing its thing. Amazingly well synchronised on ‘Where Pathways Meet’.

Dudu Pukwana's Yi Yole (1978)

I was a bit underwhelmed by that and have filed it.  Maybe I should revisit.

I love their one with Tchicai

I enjoyed it more second time around. I thought that Pukwana isn't that distinctive here, but Mengelberg is in good form. My family are all big Pukwana fans so I have happy feelings towards any record he is on.

Which is the Tchicai?

What an enlightened family

South African student communists in the 1960s with family links to the jazz world who then all moved to London. It would have been weird if they didn't like him.

Oh yeah. I know that one. One of the greats and far superior to Yi Yole for sure. I'm not sure why I didn't make the connection.

Well that really is enlightened and brave too. On 'Yi Yole' now
