I don't have any of Schneiderman's work as a leader.Β Any particular album(s) that you would recommend? Β Thanks, I very likely would enjoy it. I discovered Schneiderman through his Reservoir releases. First one was Dark Blue,Β an old-fashioned straight-ahead hard bop quintet (incl. Ralph Moore and Brian Lynch) but I was stunned by how good it sounded. I also have and can vouch for the Reservoir releases Back in Town (trio), Glass Enclosure (quartet w. Chas. McPherson) and Radio Waves (hard bop sextet also w. Moore and Lynch). I've long intended to get more of his recordings, but like many other things I haven't gotten around to it. Last month's BFT renewed the idea of trio sessions. Quote

I didnΒ΄t know Dollar Brand also played soprano sax.Β My only encounter with him was at some festival, where he led a kind of big band. But as you know, those festivals can get somehow tedious and after hearing the guys I was looking for most (Elvin Jones, Joe Henderson, Ron Carter the only thing I remember is that he had some strange robe, stood with the back to the audience and somehow "conducted" that orchestra, which played a quite repetive thing, maybe later something would have happened, but.....I had fallen asleep......
